The move makes Huckabee's wild card bid all the more implausible, so why is he wasting everyone's time and money?

Mitt Romney had to bow out of the race precisely because not enough people were listening to him, why should republicans who don't particularly care for John McCain start listening to Mitt now?
While you or I or probably even Huckabee himself have trouble conceiving a scenario where he could actually win, his remaining in the race gives people who aren't sold on McCain, especially Christians and fiscal conservatives, the chance to express their dissent with the frontrunner.
