In politics and religion there is always people who are more extreme and often it causes conflict but that isn't an excuse to restrict rights or persecute!
Islam has extremists (terrorist bombings 9-11) just like Christinaity (IRA - Ireland) and all other religions.
Politics has extremes aswell, both right and left and causes dispute but politics is about compromising the minorities in favour of the majorities not just extinguishing the views of those who are outweighed by a large majority, this is democracy.

I do agree with your first argument but disagree with your assertion that minorities have to give in to majorities. I'd rather want to see a compromise from both end of the divide because they both have a point.
The majorities should not just dismiss the minorities but rather listen to their concern and fashion out a compromise that works for both parties. That is how we can move this country forward. I am sick and tired of evangelical demonizing the Muslims vice versa

This is going to be a very subtle argument as we both have pretty much the same opinion.
I think all groups, even extreme people, need representing and all voices heard and a compromise is made to suit as many people as possible.
The political system is designed to improve the lives of people for the better based upon public opinion as a whole.
It sounds like you are arguing about two different things. Stee is arguing that we shouldn't categorically lump a whole religion into the machinations of its extremist few. Ayo is arguing that the majority should hear and value the cries of the minority. You two might want to start over.

Report Offensive CommentI just don't like Stee referring to the IRA as Christian extremists, all of their aims are political, genius.

Report Offensive CommentYes and the Protestant English brutalized and largely drove out the Catholics so supieror English transplants could take all the land that worth anything. oh and the Northern psuedo-Irish unionist-minded Protestants formed their own paramilitaries well before the Catholic independance-minded south ever did.

Is there a real debate? For me, you're saying the same things... Just in different words. But it's possible that I didn't understand it right.
