Sen. John McCain's campaign called retired Gen. Wesley Clark's remarks that McCain lacks command experience "the lowest form of politics".
Good gosh, Wes. Simply because its true doesn't mean its fair!
Let's ignore the fact that McCain was not in command of combat personnel, ever.
Let focus instead on the fact that each time McCain crashed those 4 planes during non-combat flights, he was in full command of his bowel functions Not once did he poop his pants! That should count for something. Not once did he poop his pants!
He did not poop his pants when he underestimated the difficulties of going into a war we didn't need to fight in Iraq. And he did not poop his pants when he over estimates the difficulties of leaving Iraq.
McCain has proven to have excellent command of his bowels in times of great stress, like crashing planes and voting for unnecessary wars.
Do we want a poopy pants President? I think not!
And do we want to call speaking the truth "the lowest form of politics"? Oh, I think we can go much much lower...

John McCain has lots of Legisltive experience to be the Commander in Chief. Years of time in the House and Senate. He is on the Senate Armed Services Comm.
John may know how to run a war. But I do not think he knows how to fight one. I agree with Clark. Showing McCains Vietnam experience is not the way to go. His War experience shows he knows how to crash a plane and be a prisoner. This was a horiffic experience but not a experience to show you know your way around the battilfield. McCain, while a great American, Is a loser at war.
Would you follow someone that got shot down and spent years as a POW. If you wanted to learn how to fight??
skipper04, your argument melts in face of the facts. McCain is the son and grandson of Navy Admirals. He graduated in the bottom 1% of his class at the Navy Academy, skipped over a long waiting list of more qualified men to get into pilot's school, crashed 4 planes, may have started the US Forrestal fire, and then was shot down after fewer than twenty hours of combat. After the war, he commanded a unit of 100 planes in peacetime. Rumors about his behavior during his Navy abound, and he REFUSES to release his record as John Kerry did. What's he hiding? McCain admits that he has a problem with anger. Documented stories of his cursing and assaults on other Senators are legion. There are you tube videos showing him cursing a witness during a Congressional hearing, and more recently cursing a reporter on his plane for asking a question. McCain has no strategic command experience and is incapable of maintaining a military bearing. By your logic, we could pick a POW at random every 4 years and coronate him.

Report Offensive Commentyou're not following logic reflection. i was responding to aucontray's question at the end of his argument. "Would you follow someone that got shot down and spent years as a POW, if you wanted to learn ho to fly?" Which was the motivation behind my remark. I was not sticking up for McCain in particular. Try to keep up next time.

Report Offensive CommentMcCain has been dubbed a war hero and for good reason. He held is own ground as a prisoner and never did an about-face on his country. However, he still fought a war that was not won. How can he be a good judge of war if he has not even won?

Report Offensive CommentWe did win the Vietnam War, actually. Cynics won't accept it because not every life was saved, although the mission was accomplished. South Vietnam was not turned communist and it remained independent. I'm sensing someone trying to compare this to President Bush's "Mission Accomplished" moment. Don't bother. I've been on hiatus for a while, but maybe I'll be back more often again. I see people are still complaining about idiots not finishing debates and how the leader board is flawed. Glad to see nothing has changed.

Report Offensive CommentWait. McCain. The Iraq War. Now who was he? Lemme think....*mumbles in a Bush-like fashion* Oh yeah....wasn't he the guy who mistook Sunnis and Shias in a speech about the Iraq war?

This year, close to 90 ships have been seized in and around the Gulf of Aden, more than triple the number of 2007

to answer your question AuContray, yes i would. Because i realize that no matter how good a soldier you become, in the end luck will always play its part. Do you think that every soldier that has been killed in Iraq was killed due to the fact that they weren't as good as those that survived? If you do, you're a fool. The fact that his plane was shot down is not necessarily evidence that he wasn't a good soldier.
