Elephant-Donkey is over.

Updating the "And the Winner is..." boards? Too very little, to late. I just wish the regulars had given me a "heads up" as to where they were going before they fled...

It was not worth it. All the ganging up and unnecessary personal attacks chased a lot of people away. Unfortunately, you were one of the people who believed that you can win a debate or argument by bucking at individuals, sucking up on the strong and influencial debaters and insult those you deemed average debaters.

If you are looking for the reasons for the death of this site, look no further, you were one of them. I left in peace and realize that I engage in different debate sites with people of calibre and reason.

I wish you never join a site I'm part of Fry and your gang that never really accepted you in its clique.

REST IN PEACE.

P&L

Ha! I was never part of a "clique" on this site, I only participated in some debates and, like yourself, added my two cents when I felt the situation caled for it.

Also, there was no "ganging up" by my observation, only certain opinions that would incur wider sentiments of disapproval - not on the merit of being against any 'group', but against the respective ideologies or thought processes of individuals.

It's complete bs that I'd 'pull out all the stops' and use personal attacks for the purpose of winning debates on this site. Frankly, winning debates on this site was never high on my priority list.

Maybe this backstory that you've given me about seeking the approval of a "clique" and being shunned gives you some comfort moving forward.

Perhaps I'll see you in rd3.

I stand by my position from my first argument.

A lot went wrong on this site. No one will disagree with you on that one. So I accepted your challenge, not because I disagree with you, I just wanted to site a few reasons this site went down. TIME did their part by designing it for all of us. Unfortunately, its all of us who distroyed it.

Ganging up, name calling, vote rigging etc are but just a few of the many reasons this site is dead.

I left for other debate sites that may not be as well designed and user friendly as ED, but the attitude and character of people who participate is much better. There is tollerance. A key element missing from this site.

I wish all those who loved this site all the best going forward.

The reason for the fall of the site wasn't the reasons you cite - all of which center around things that you perceived as happening to you, which you took personally and shouldn't have.

Time DIDN'T "do their part"; they built a nice vehicle, but they never changed the oil. As a result, the engine seized up and E-D is now rusting on the internet's driveway. It had nothing to do with the users of the site, but the administrators who allowed it to fall into disrepair.

People are people, so why should it be you and I should get along so awfully? There are hundreds of thousands of social community-type sites on the web which thrive. Maybe you have YOUR reasons for not using the site anymore, but that's no reason for the entire site to collapse as it has.

The British Invasion fizzled out and most regulars have disappeared. Hopefully, they went off to design a site of their own with the same functionality of E-D, but with a plan for maintenance.

The, "Not in our stars, but in ourselves," argument is bollocks. No offense to you personally though, P&L.

Take care.

You seem to believe that people just got bored, or Americans just succumbed to the Brits. Wrong. Nothing else destroyed this site but the so called regulars of E-D.

This site could have survived without the maintenance you refer to. I hear your analogy of the car, but in reality this isn't one. This is the web. There is nothing TIME could have done with the personal attacks and insults that the gang of this site made.

You know that Donkey Dude, Youngdem, USAPit Bull and some adhock people like IamFry, MorgMcA etc hounded anyone who had a opposing view.

It was a pleasure participating on this site. Thanks for those who were kind and debated in good spirit. I will pop in like others who have left, just to check out if anything will interest me, but I will not participate.

I am certain that once all of us (from this generation of this site) leave, new members will join and they will not have the baggage of this current membership. Failing which the gang will return and seek to control the soul of this site.

Good luck in your search for a better "social community site".

Bye everyone. Peace & Love.

Yeah, It was a shame to watch it go downhill, I just poke my head in every now and then to see if anythings changed. Just got tired of watching nothing and debating the air, y'know. I don't know if the regulars have fled to anywhere, rather I think they just fled, that's all I did. and where'd did P&L come from?

I hear you, Morgan. I'll probably poke in from time to time to see if there's any new activity, but the way things are going, I expect to one day click on this bookmark and get a "cannot find server" message...

Looks like you win, P&L! Your sock puppet army has triumphed one last time!

I'm just checking back, too. Fry, I loved your allegory between the rusting car and this web site. Very true. Any real substantive debate fizzled out and those who clearly manipulated TIME's lack of maintenance/regulation (a conservative calling for regulation!) began multiplying like rabbits, including the mini Brit invasion. Perhaps I'll come back more often as the election gets closer, but it won't be the same without DD, Youngdem, Fry, Morg, Strongleader, and the like. Perhaps these are just the dog days of summer, but we'll see. I'm just flattered y'all remembered me. ;)
