If they did Hillary would be on the ticket.

I disagree. If the Democrats didn't use their brains, they wouldn't be able to perform such simple functions as tying their shoes or scratching their heads.
Let me suggest an alternative explanation for their non-selection of Senator Clinton: they DID use their brains, they simply came to a different conclusion for the best running mate than you, Carl, did.
One explanation for the divergence from your natural conclusion: they simply aren't as smart as you are, Carl. In spite of their vast intellectual resources, they failed to realize something that you imply is as plain as day. Perhaps you'll give us a glimpse of what that is in your next argument.
Sophomoric insolence? Insolence?! What reverence of mine does this guy deserve; he's essentially saying that people who don't agree with the Biden pick (such as myself) are stupid. I think I'm using a little more tact than that.

Report Offensive CommentFry - I wasn't referring to your position on this issue. As I said "Despite [your] previous animadversions of some of my comments..." referring to our past discussions. I don't think you've yet been insolent to Carl.

Report Offensive CommentObama's message includes that of reuniting the country after eight years of propaganda inspired hate mongering on both sides of the aisle. The country is in desperate need of respite. I feel that Americans need to be brought back to common goals. Hillary Clinton has an incredibly divisive character. Those who are for her passionately adore her, and those who are against her absolutely despise her. If you watched the democratic primaries, then you know she was more than capable of tearing apart the democratic party (what would she have done to the country?). Democrats are the American people as much as Republicans are the American people. We all went to the same comparatively low quality American schools, and together we all stood by and watched our (Republican) president stumbled over the English language and generally portrayed Americans as ignorant fools. So, no... I don't think that any party has a monopoly over ignorance. And yes, I think that Obama absolutely made a thoughtful choice in his Vice Presidential pick... a thoughtful, intelligent choice that demonstrates his concern for the well-being of the country over politics of gender.

Report Offensive CommentThe clinton thing is over. Get over it and move on. As far as the why...you really dont have to look far from her. As in...Bill. How many comments did he make that made her and her campaign look bad. How many votes did he loose because of his temper and his very bad...BAD choice of words. Then after it was all said and done and Obama had enough votes to take the dem as their leader...so much bad blood was still in the water...sure, he needs her to counter sarah palin, but there was NO WAY he would pick her as her running mate. She had said too much...as so had bill. So in a way you are right that it was the dems...but more to the point it was Bill Clinton

Report Offensive CommentHow can Obama represent uniting the country? He is on the far-left end of the spectrum of American politics and he voted with his party 97% of the time. The only time he reached across the aisle was to b*tch-slap somebody!

Despite Fry's previous animadversions of some of my comments, I have to agree with him here. But the discussion touches on a quandary that bears some thought. Is there a positive (or, conversely, of course, a negative) correlation between intelligence and political orientation? Are liberals smarter than conservatives? Maybe I'll start a face off on that. Anyway, Fry gets my vote here, despite his sophomoric insolence.
