If not then how in the world can a McCain/Palin ticket win in November? No one who has the common sense to educate theirself on the issues would vote for them, exclud
ing of course those fat cats who benefit from the programs Bush ahs put in place.
It's so simple really. If you want 4 more years of the last 8 then you vote McCain and if you want change then you vote Obama.

It's not about being uneducated. It's about different ways of viewing candidates, which could be termed the politics-based viewpoint and the values-based viewpoint. People who have a politics-based viewpoint - and you seem to be amongst them - examine candidates based on things like specific policy details and the feasibility of their plans. The central question seems to be: Does this candidate have a feasible and workable plan?
People with values-based viewpoints are very different. They will often judge a candidate based on their background and character. Essentially, they generally want someone who is like them, who shares their opinions, who they trust to represent their interests. Rather than policies or proposals, they are interested in patriotism, courage, attitude. Their question would be: Do I trust this candidate to be in charge of this country?
This is an oversimplification, of course. There is a bit of both in everyone's decision-making process, though proportions vary. It's true that much of Palin's popularity can be linked to the second viewpoint. But this isn't a Republican phenomenon - most of Obama's black supporters dont support him for his healthcare policies.
You call people stupid if they don't agree with you - and then you wonder why they don't agree with you???? Maybe those of us (now in the majority) who support McCain/Palin really do support their stance on the issues. Did that ever occur to you? Maybe if you stepped outside the bubble you have created by surrounding yourself with people who agree with you, this would sink in.

Report Offensive CommentStupid implies a lack of intelligence as in a low I.Q. Ignorance implies a lack of knowledge and/or an unwillingness to gain it. (IGNOR-ance) Neither Bush or Palin are stupid or ignorant, instead they are simply masters at manipulating the thought processes of those who are and are surronded by people of the same ilk.

Report Offensive Comment"No one who has the common sense to educate theirself on the issues would vote for them...." First of all, you mean "themselves." Second, you should mean "him- or herself" being as you used a singular subject (no ONE). I point this out only because you feel you are more intelligent than most people, and clearly you are not. I love irony. :)

Report Offensive CommentI think "uneducated" is a dangerous word here, if you really mean "stupid," because the latter implies that there's no hope for the condition, while the former implies that "proper education" might fix the problem. If that's the case, then all we need do is send conservatives to re-education camps. The fact is that there are brilliant liberals and brilliant conservatives, just as there are stupid liberals and stupid conservatives. How can this be? It's because we make the decision to be liberal or conservative emotionally (or via some other non-intellectual process), rather than intellectually. Once the decision is made, then we bring to bear in support of our position whatever intellect we have.

Report Offensive CommentStupid is also a very dangerous word as it can mostly appear to be a personal attack. Was Levi just stupid in his failure to protect his partner from becoming pregnant or just uneducated and ignorant of the use of condoms as all he was ever taught was abstinence?

It's not totally about being un-educated. I know a lot of well educated people that are really just totally ignorant and are willing to accept the loudest and most often propogated lies as truth. This is why the Swift Boat attacks worked so well against Kerry. Red Ken is correct: "People with values-based viewpoints are very different. They will often judge a candidate based on their background and character. Essentially, they generally want someone who is like them" W was so popular with the "I'd like to have a beer with that guy" crowd, because he dumbed himself down to look like one of the good old boys and why Sarah is so popular. Neither one will make any effort to correctly pronounce nuclear or Iran or Irag and they are both well educated. NukeUler, Eyeran and Eyerack aren't correct pronunciations. I'd still like to have Sarah around to help pack my moose out!
