We Radically revamp Education. we should get rid this superfluous bureaucracy like we have now. It is failing our kids..
What is the one thing that could truly get rid of racism, social inequality, and would also start people down the path of equality?.
It???s simple Education???
Education is the Cornerstone and the infrastructure of any great nation, and regardless of a students social status we should provide the same opportunities to all. In turn, this will solve many of today???s problems. This will provide equal opportunities for all, provide for more rapid advancement in all fields of study, and bring together all the different thought processes from our vastly diverse population, not to mention that this policy will make the United States the best of the best yet again.
???This plan will give us a well-educated Population which is vital to our security, our economy, and our democracy. I feel that this kind of focus is must happen. This will finally provide us a substantial return on the tens of billions of dollars currently spent on education.???
We need standards in Education, make Education standard in every state, after all we are the United States. No Tax increases

Ok... I see a statement to get rid of our current education system and do, essentially, "something else." I see no plan for what your "something else" is.
You seem to be in favor of scrapping the bureaucracy, which seems to indicate you support education privatization. Then you talk about how important education is to everyone in society and how a democracy can't function without it, which is an argument used for massive public funding.
Frankly, all I see here is a lot of huff and puff buzzwords being thrown around here. You reference your "plan" but don't provide any insight. So, until you give me something to debate against, some tangible, specific plan, do everyone a favor and quit all the huffing and puffing; we're running out of ozone as it is.

It too long to post here.

I went to your Web site to look at your action plan. I still see lots of buzzwords and hyperbole, but mostly what I saw is more flip-flops and contradictions than a Kerry campaign. A sampling of them:
You want to spend excessive amount of money on technology trinkets, I.E. biometric scanners on all the lockers, real-time student tracking and a nationwide extranet, yet won't allow students to carry cell phones.
You want to pay teachers more and based on performance, but also want to only hire teachers that teach "for the love of teaching" and not for the paycheck.
You want to nationalize education into a gigantic publicly-owned corporation, yet eliminate the government "bureaucracy" of our current system.
Most importantly, you plan on making all these changes, upgrades and alleged improvements without raising taxes.
There is nothing in your plan that seems even remotely reasonable. Yes, our education system needs some revamping and restructuring, but I don't see how any of your suggestions could improve upon our current system.

John Karry so funny.. Once again there that word again flip-flop.. I don???t think most even no what that word means??? it a stupid not productive political buzz word??? and you know it???.
That???s a great response instead of offing a solutions you offer hot air??? and a the same perspective and thinking that we seen for years???.hummm why is that..
So that is the same kind of closed minding thinking that got us in this mess in the first place, it is time for can do altitude, to put convention thinking aside and defy the norm. We must fix the problem... It time for true change. Going down the same path is not change..
What are you doing to offer change? What are your plans, do you have one? If not why??? I guessing you care more politics than people..
Get off the side line and get involved for real.
We spend billions on pork projects. Policing the world, wars.. etc.. so I say it time to focus on America needs for a change... I bet in one week I can find more than enough money to fund this program, but cutting all the unnecessary programs and foreign unneeded aid.
Put aside Politics and focus. Start looking the logic???

Odom, there is a difference between being closed-minded and being realistic. Do you even realize how big a change you are proposing?
If a faucet is broken, you don't tear down the whole house to fix it. In the same sense, I recognize our public education system needs more funding and, perhaps, a greater degree of accountability. But we don't need biometric scanners on every locker in America, a Big Brother tracking system on every student and a corporate model of governance. THAT'S excessive government spending!
I like the concept of the recently-passed America COMPETES Act, which allocates additional funds for science and math-based programs in our public schools. I also support greater involvement in after-school programs and involvement in the arts by students. But we have to remember, at the end of the day we need a workable solution to these and all of our problems in America, not fringe solutions with no grounding in reality.
As for your attacks on my involvement, know that it is enough I do serve the Federal government in a capacity. Without saying too much, Odom, I AM involved. And I don't even have a fringe, fourth-rate Presidential campaign.
What expect was constructive criticism the could used to improve the plan etc, Was I got unthoughtful gibberish. I figure you were a washington insider. only they think that way... I don't agree but that what America is all about the ability to disagree. There was no real destroying here this was fibrous text, he offered no real analysis of my plan. no clear logic was used in his thinking, he look and reacted with same kind of thinking that most people who can see out side the box. The not an insult it just a sad fact. we must break that mold to be great once again... so be it, time will tell. Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds. -Albert Einstein We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them. -Albert Einstein The world is not dangerous because of those who do harm but because of those who look at it without doing anything. -Albert Einstein Need really any more but I will.. He just does understand the basic of the plan, he does whatever naysayer does pick one little piece and misinterpet it.. That not how we get progress. We need to stop the bickering and solve the problems.... Or we will continue to face even bigger problem in near future... The biometric scanner are for security and convince they will improve use of time. the core idea is meant to change our future for the better... 'fourth-rate Presidential campaign.' that because we judge are people how much net-worth they have, instead of there real worth... that's just one of many reasons, we are broken as a nation. are values and focus is just not there any longer, and will not change until see major event in society sadly make relize that we should took the to prevent it.

Report Offensive CommentOdom, I think it is you who are closed-minded. Your "radical changes" do very little to change the way people are taught. You don't spend money on any programs for actual education, but "sideline" issues such as school security, lunch nutrition and school uniforms. Instead of listening to suggestions and, perhaps, incorporating them into your platform, you berate any suggestions that do not fall perfectly in line with your ideas. I read absolutely NOTHING in your proposals on any ideas that would get students more interested in school. Without fostering creativity in our youths, all the money you propose on spending is money down the toilet. Please, before you accuse everyone of being close-minded, re-evaluate your own thought processes. And use spell-check, too.

odom.... he basically destroyed your plan and than you criticize him for not bringing up a solution. your the one that thinks we should "Revamp Education" so you should be the one to provide a good and strong plan not Austhus. Defend your plan, and stop attacking Austhus for destroying yours.
