Only Obama can fix the financial mess

As Obama states, "We are in this mess because of a bankrupt philosophy that says we should give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to the rest of us." http://thepage.time.com/2008/09/22/obama-to-deliver-major-economic-speech-in-green-bay/

If you think one person is in complete control of our financial state, and is single-handedly capable of reversing our economic state, you are wrong. The United States of America is supposed to be in a continuous cycle where there are ten years of prosperity and ten years of economic hardship. We had an unpresidented thirty years of prosperity, besides after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, which was only minor. As Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "nothing goes in an upward direction forever". So to believe that one man can change our economic status, agian, is crazy. There were hundreds of factors that played into the economic crash. It was the thirty year old investors who had never seen a bad economy, and the war, and foreign policies. Also, about your quote, Reaganomics has essentially not been used since the pre-ninties era; yes, this philosophy is bankrupt, which is why we no longer follow it. Obama cannot fix the financial mess, nonetheless even slightly change it; neither can McCain or anyone else, (but it is wishful thinking). Even if someone was able to fix this financial crisis, the list of ablers would not be secluded to just Obama...

Obama alone can't fix this mess, it will take a concentrated effort from many different directions, so to say that only Obama can is just silly.

the average investor/(former)homeowner that screwed up the economy is in their mid thirties now... so lets trace this back... they would have been 20 to 25 when they started investing and taking out massive loans which would have been 10 to 15 years ago... who was the president again? Clinton? Gasp! He did nothing to stop this from happening?!?

Duh, one man cant do it. But thats not really a good argument at all... When we put Obama in office we are putting the Obama ADMINISTRATION in office. Not just one man, we are putting an entire administration in office. The Obama Administration Can fix the economy. Come up with a better argument.

To begin with this is a stupid question. If you were referring to fixing the bathroom tap in your home, yes then one person can do that. However this is an economy and for you to pose such a foolish question is an insult to intelligent people. Obama is not a one man show and you have clearly seen this throughout the entire primaries campaign and the current presidential campaign. He has a team and with him comes an Administration. The question should be can the Obama Administation fix the economy? And to that YES THEY CAN! He has a plan, a well thought of plan, not McCain's knee jerk reactions. And as you can see the Democrats are out there already working on the problem. I have every confidence that they can and do know what they are doing.

McCain has been a major player in the last two government bailouts. Of course McCain deregulation that created the current mess but, long, long before that, McCain was a central figure in the Keating Five scandal involving failed Savings and Loans in the late 80's - 20 year ago. In the later case, McCain used his position as a U.S. Senator to intervene on behalf of Charles Keating. Basically he tried to stop regulators from doing their jobs. The McCain of the past week is a fiction who went from "The economy is fundamentally strong" to "We're in the worst financial crisis since WWII". Does that suggest someone who has any grasp of the economy? Even McCain's hometown newspaper called him a crook in the Keating Five affair. The Phoenix New Times still has an article entitled 'McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five' available as an archive on their website. That is the true McCain.
