As long as the fed is making us buy out a bunch of junk loans, thus lining the pockets of unscrupulous jerks, we might as well buy something that we can enjoy some profit from!
Let's make the fed buy BP-Amoco, Chevron-Gulf-Texaco, ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil. We can use some of the profits to pay our international debtors and pass the rest on to the owners/taxpayers at the pump.

I understand that taking over such an industry could provide the government with a lot of money, but do we really want the government in control of these huge companies that provide our gasoline? I don't want the government taking over the market!
I don't understand how you could be advocating this. It's outrageous! One of the key components of the constitution was limiting government power. Not increasing it. I personally would never want the government in charge of the very fuel i need to like my life. First it's oil, next it's be every other industry. Eventually we won't even have a free market! We can't actually entertain this absurd idea!
limit government powers! don't maximize it. We've already seen what maximizing government power can lead to(Torture). I for one, don't trust this or any future government to be in control of the oil around the world.
The government won't need to answer to the people any more, with taxes no longer it's largest revenue source. If the government started relying on oil, it could completely disregard the people. Eventually we'll have a dictatorship! Limit government, Don't maximize it!
