Biden's key to winning the debate in the hearts and minds of undecideds/ignoramuses won't be exposing Palin's lack of pertinent knowledge, it will be making good comebacks to her stupid jokes.
She'll be sure to use some of the "jokes" she used at the Republican convention; Biden has no excuse for not having comeback jokes for those. In fact his entire prep team should consist of political-savy comedy writers who will write comebacks for the cheesy jokes she's used on record and others that may be written specifically for the debate.
How does one 'attack' Palin without attacking her? You attack her stupid jokes, that's how. You need to play the game on her turf, Joey; you need to turn the debate into a high-priced game of "snaps".

I disagree with you on that strategy. In order to defuse the, ???Sarah Palin Effect???, during the debate Joe Biden will need to strike quickly on the issues without deviating to humor. Not allowing Palin to escape into her comfort zone of reaching out to the audience, working the pity vote is the key to victory. Palin is a charming individual, and unfortunately people overlook her lack of knowledge of facts because she has charmed them.
It would be a mistake responding to her jokes, because than Biden will appear to be attacking her. If Biden brings notice to her failures, doesn???t talk at her, as much as to her, covers all the issues with relevant answers, and doesn???t start sprouting nonsense during the debate, Biden will win.
The Republican party is already sowing the seeds of doubt with the American public because of the moderator, Ms. Ifill. If Palin proves her incompetence by her inability to answer the questions, and if Biden remains true to form, he will win hands down.
Palin is a Republican Puppet, and without McCain having his hand up her back and talking for her about the issues, she is unfortunately lost in the sauce.

Biden will prove himself in the arena of knowledge without batting an eyelash; he needs to take away Palin's only advantage -- her Bushesque ability to use down-homey "charisma" to mask her ineptitude.
Biden won't appear to be attacking her by attacking her "jokes"; that's the beauty of it! He can't go after her personally, but he can go after her jokes; it's the one thing he can attack. And it's the one thing he needs to do in order to blow her out of the water.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying he should come out of the gate swinging with cheesy jokes of his own - that would be transparent - but he should come armed with comebacks. That way, when she tries to divert the path of the debate with "humor", he will be right on top of it, as if to say, "There! We've had a good laugh (and the last one was mine), now it's time to talk politics again."

Again I disagree, Biden cannot waste time and energy attempting to entertain a crowd with his attempts at humor. With the margin that Obama/Biden now have in the polls, Biden must arrive tonight with the intent to prove by example that their campaign can lead America out of the economic and foreign policy crises the country faces.
Biden does not have to attack Palin, the media has done enough of that of late by her own comments, he should be concentrating on attacking McCain and his policies and being concise when correcting her on incorrect answers.
The eyes of the nation will be on Palin tonight, can she handle the position of VP, does she have an understanding of the country's domestic and international problems.
The format for the debate is supposed to be rigid, with little to no back and forth talking, unlike the Obama/McCain debate, just as the McCain campaign wanted. Biden is an outstanding debater, and has a great understanding of the issues. All Biden has to do tonight is trip up Palin without appearing patronizing or condescending, and for Biden that is a tasks all unto itself.

This debate has gone stale. Still, I would've liked to see some 'zingers' in there...
He will have to pretty much ignore her, attack McCain, make short consise answers and not get rifled by her little "cute" snips.

Report Offensive CommentYou see, when Biden answers a "joke" with another joke, it's acceptable, as she started the line of joking. What's unacceptable is her replying to Biden's response joke with another joke; it will make her look foolish, as though she's up there to make jokes rather than have a serious debate, or she may simply get flustered. Biden will continue to get the last laugh as long as she continues to joke. It's her only advantage, and he needs to take it away - and you KNOW they'll be recycling jokes. McCain certainly did. I can't wait to hear what they have for that "rottweiler-lipstick" joke, should they dare use it!

Report Offensive CommentI agree with MasterSand. Palin will attempt to charm the public, and if she doesn't, McCain and his crew are setting up for the aftershock of the debate to reflect she wasn't given a fair chance during the debate by the moderator. If she falls on her face due to her answers to the questions, Biden will win it hands down, Biden doesn't have to prove anything, just needs to make sure he doesn't blow it, so he needs to ignore her jokes and move on to the issues

Report Offensive CommentIt won't be good if he lowers himself to her level of stupid charming remarks. But it also won't be good if he comes out guns blazing trying to expose her lack of knowledge. He has got to play it cool and allow her to make herself look like an idiot.

Report Offensive CommentI was right, he stuck to the issues, corrected her on her obvious errors

Palin will be able to emotionally attach the the crowd, praying that the American public will not notice her lack of knowledge, however the drawback is whereas the American Public might not notice her lapse in knowledge, the media will not. If she fails to impress the media, they will most likely crucify her for her lack of interviews, (everyone remember the U.N. incident in NYNY?) Biden will actually have one advantage, he knows McCain perhaps better than anyone, and I have a feeling that if he keeps strictly to the questions at hand, he will be able to catch her repeating lines direclt from McCain.
