Nearly 2 million people turned out to vote in the 1988 Democratic primary in Texas; four years ago, the number was less than a million. It's almost impossible for a Democrat to be elected statewide. But the energy inspired by the Obama campaign could change that.
Good. Texas needs to get on the bandwagon of reality. And I am a Texan!

Report Offensive CommentI think Texas had such few votes back in 2004 because, by then, it was a foregone conclusion that Kerry was getting the nomination. Would seem pretty senseless to vote when something's already decided. However, I'm glad that the entire country is so fired up for this election; we've been complacent for too long.

Report Offensive CommentI think you're right, they're a lot of Texas Democrats in big cities like Austin and Houston that are just not voting. Obama will cause them to do that.

It's already happening. Allegedly (and I haven't been able to confirm this) Wednesday the day after the primaries this week, over 4,000 people showed up at the early polling stations in Houston. The majority had exit polled as having voting for Barack. A jump start for Obama. Can any one confirm this?
