I dont believe, even with random (american) acts of terrorism such as the unibomber or Oklahoma City bombing, that the patriot act (as it is written) would have stopped those acts. George W. Bush has repeatedly used this piece of legislation to tap into the average citizens phone records, record bank accounts, etc. How is this stopping terrorism? It's just more bunk from a president who likes to use big names for things that dont work. You know, like no child left behind. Its a great name, but doesnt work. The only thing about the Patriot Act is that it is also detrimental (again, as it is written) to the average citizen.

I've lost too many of these, I'm leaving this site, respectfully dropping out like so many have done before me.
You know, I was going to forfeit this one because of my personal life, but since Obama's Irish has decided to interject such a ....lets say undeserved comment...I think Ill just let this one ride out. If you remember, Irish, ALL phone transcripts were turned over to the govt. not just those of suspected terrorists. So if you used a cellphone during that time, your little conversations are now knowledge to a bunch of people that you dont know in Washington. My wish? that someone would put a limitation on how much they can tap. What? Irish...I believe, through intuition or whatever ...that you are not a terrorist. So should people look at your phone records? No. Why not just tap those phones of non-americans or recent immigrated americans? That just makes sense to me.

Bitterwords, you're wrong. How are your rights being violated when we only listen to phone numbers found on Al Qaeda cell phones and computers? Since when have you ever done that? If you have, then yes your rights are being violated, as well they should be, since you're talking to terrorists.
