Will the people actually prosper or will this new regime fall short on issues?

Sitting at a dinner, people eat and drink like pigs. They party and ransack the place in question, have a wonderful time, stay twice as long as expected, burp, leave and laugh. Suddenly, the one person in charge of clean up has arrived and has until dawn to take care of everything remaining. And that man, or 'that one', will be there to fulfill the task of taking care of the mountains of rubbish! President Elect Barack Obama is that man. Another slew of partying fools has, and is, going to leave the utter mess behind for someone else to clean it all up. Once again, that is Barack. It doesn't surprise anyone that the man has stated that, "I can't do it alone. The American People will have too help!" And how! In the process, will all the chaos be conquered? If so, how? The economy is like the equivalent of an H-bomb type of headache. Industry has about ninety yards to the goal line. Social matters are fragile and need care. No one in their right mind could say that this will be a snap, though some folks certainly sound that way in a sense. We should not be too optomistic. Universal healthcare? Big order! Immigration? Another one. Many others. A rather long list!

I just want to make a note that your position isn't so much an argument as it is a synopsis. The header led me to believe that you had a distinguishable standpoint on this conjecture, do you believe he'll rise to the occasion or not? Nonetheless i am inclined to agree with your synopsis of the current situation. The argument i put forth is that as a nation right now we are collectively suffering from an over-consciousness of history. This isn't to say that this election wasn't a historic one but the subsequent atmosphere leaves me with the feeling that we're taking a dictation on something that will likely be reevaluated constantly for generations on end. Rather than caving to sink or swim speculations shouldn't we really be taking it a step at a time? We're already second guessing how Barrack Obama's presidency will be viewed generations from now. I personally don't think that matters so much, leave that to future historians. Winston Churchill once said that humans do seem to have a knack for getting it right, but only after exhausting all other possibilities. Mankind is resilient, and as a nation we'll solve the problems that face us, theres no use speculating about th

I foresee obstacles. That isn't to say the newly forming administration will do nothing but fail (that was President Bush's gig). They will suceed in many ways. However, I see the mean spirit of the defeated rising up and making roadblocks where they can. If President proposes something, will the right wing do everything to avert it, or will they really unify with him and agree? When it come to money, will those holding power over it be guided by personal agenda rather than rationality? Will the slighted members of the opposition be led by emotions and not logic. Unortunately, a great deal of them are in a big way! My sister lives in a white bread, Ohio, born again, God fearing town, with all agendas and beliefs intact for the same. When asked about the election results, her response, "It sucks!". What does that tell you? The woman represents the feelings and attitudes of a large percentage of the population. You cannot believe how many people are still trying to let it all settle into their minds. A guy said, "A black man, president? Never thought I'd see the day!" Let's look at it from this angle, "Get off my lawn!' isn't just a saying, it's an ethic. That's scary!

Sorry for the delay i just pulled an all-nighter but i digress. I understand you reservations about the Republicans throwing the proverbial monkey wrench in the gears of the new administration. Then again Democrats had the same feelings of animosity (and acted the same way) in 2000 and 2004. Additionally if the Republican's self professed 'soul searching' can actually mean anything i think they have a lot of growing up to do, but thats not just the Republicans a god deal of the Democrats (Clintonites?) acted the exact same way after Hillary lost the primaries.Frankly i think for our generation Barrack Obama set the new standard for how a campaign should be run (McCain probably set the record for how to not). I think they'll come around though, just like those Clintonites, they'd be foolish to not . The price of cutting of your nose to spite your face is far too high this time. I can also relate to the reaction you received from your sister, i spent part of high school in South Carolina and browsing face book status updates the day after you'd think somebody had died.

Look at the tenacity of Gov. Palin! She is exactly what I am talking about. I think Sarah really had a hard time with the election and subsequent defeat. The woman looked flabbergasted. Is was as if she couldn't even imagine such a horrid thing happen. I observe her as a woman living in denial and only getting what she wants, hence, her current behavior. There is no way she's letting go. Unfortunately, a percentage of her followers deeply identify with her, and that is absolutely scary! They will come back, perhaps in forceful pressure groups. If they learned anythng, they recognize the power of numbers and persuasion. They believed in anti aborotion, anti union, anti affirmative action, pro war, segregation along with many things, and guess what....they still do and will continue. When people have got an ax to grind, it is ugly! Those are the land mines that the Obama adminstration and supporters must seed out. Once that is done, then he might be able to start ideas and fulfill promises. I just see a perfect storm brewing otherwise.

She and her pals can grind their axes until 2012 for all I care, there are more relevant things to deal with than a jilted veep and her rabid attack dogs. Look how long W was in office and it's not like everybody was mum about that for 8 years. If You believe the Republican party can make a comeback using Sarah "Albatross" Palin as the brains of the operation for the next four years then I've got a bridge to sell you up in Alaska. You have to account for the fact they're going to spend at least a year trying to figure out which obscure group they're going to lump the blame on (Almost makes you wonder how they can't see the Elephant in the living room). So when they finish that they're going to have to decide what positions they're going to be running on in 2012, " 1950's American Values"? "American Manifest Destiny?" "We Couldn't Think Up A Good Topic So We're Going To Blame Everything On Illegal Immigrants"? By that time we'll already be on the road to recovery or living in cardboard boxes when we're not standing in bread lines. The point is that perfect storm you're talking about is more along the lines of leaky faucet that Joe the Plumber just doesn't know how to fix anymore.

Let's send Gov. Palin to Africa. At least she would know that her antics would shake up 'that country'! As long as she believes that Africa is a country and not a continent, maybe she'll stay there as a so called 'ambassador' or 'envoy'. Might just miss the chance at the 2012 election! As David Letterman said recently, "Continent, schmontinent!"

We shall over-come the many obstacle left behind by this lame duck president, George Bush. He reminds me of Daffy, the trouble-some duck whose problem solving skills amounted to a retarded quack!

You fail to take something fairly obvious into account, Poly! Daffy was a hell-a-lot-smarter than the 'Fool on the Hill'! And Daffy was an animated cartoon character! In reality, aren't all politician comparable to cartoon characters. Actually, shouldn't they all have cartoon shows made about them? It would be a blast! You'd hear voiceovers from famous actors saying, "Yes, we can!", "That one!", and "Yeeew betcha'!" Then, I would watch Saturday morning cartoons again.

Why does Obama have until dawn? And if you keep in mind what Clinton had to go through... I'd say the GOP will be unhelpful DESPITE all their promises.

Mike-you're an idiot...but I'm sure that I'm not the first one to label you in that manner, nor will i be the last. First...the story about Palin in re: to Africa, (much to your dismay), has been repeatedly shown to be false. But it's the Kool-aid drinking, Obama/Jonestown liberals that PRAY that it's true, (it's the only thing secularists, like yourself would pray for...the demise of another). Second, you simply have chosen to ignore that it was the House and Senate Dems that aided, abetted and took money from those that caused the housing meltdown...yet you want to blame it all on Bush. Figures. Let's hope that the FBI does their job and exposes Johnson, Raines, Gorelick, Dodd, Frank, Shumer, Waters, Meek and Watt for the corrupt, money grubbing cons that they are. Then what will you write...hmmmmmmmm? 57 million voters chose Palin...and IMO, she can only go up from here. There's real concern by the left that if they don't succeed, and do it quickly, that there will be a groundswell of conservatism in this country that will make even BO wish he had lost the election. The whole world is watching the young, slick, non-commital former Senator from Illinois that choses his friends and associates less carefully than any previous president-elect has in the history of our country.

Well, thank you for the endorsement, drhunt1! Since I have it on record that I am, for the lack of better words, 'an idiot', then that tells me two things. One is...it is obvious that you are better than me and my opinions mean less than yours. And two...since I am an idiot, I am sure that I can get into the White House, no doubt! Like a skit showed President Bush leaving a college after speaking to them said, "Hey! If I can be president, anyone can! Just think about that for a moment!" So. Since I have that, I'll run for President of these United States. That's right! And when I am elected, the first order of business is to deal with all the know-it-all-intolerants, much like yourself! I thank you for I really didn't know what I was going to do in the future. Fuel for the fire!

Mike-let me put it into words that you might understand. First, if you're 'opinion' is based upon false pretenses, than your argument is a fallacy. Second, if Joe Biden can become VP then, truly, anyone can do it. The gaffemaster has been wrong in his foreign policy views more then he's been right, yet he was chosen by BO to be his foreign policy expert. Go figure. Third, in your second argument, you again pull the race card, (a common and vastly overused ploy by BO's team). Conservatives don't have a problem with an African-American leading this country...but the right one is important. Remember, I voted for Alan Keyes in 2000...further Condie Rice wasn't on the ticket, otherwise I would have supported her. No...you took the bait from the "say-anything-to-get-elected" crowd, hook, line and sinker. Hope it tastes good. And what did you think of Gordon Brown suggesting at the G20 that ALL countries should lower taxes in order to improve the global economy? OUCH! Think that BO was listening? A man with your talents should be able to put them to good use. Perhaps being a fry cook would allow you to indoctrinate the minimum wage crowd and persuade them that the $500 they will receive from BO for their vote is meaningful.

"Second, if Joe Biden can become VP then, truly, anyone can do it. " You're right, if Joe Biden could get nominated, gosh even Sarah Palin could be a vp hopeful!? When you finish polishing your award for most important opinions in the history of opinions maybe you could re-examine some of your own brainless comments. "Conservatives don't have a problem with an African-American leading this country...but the right one is important." Gosh they way you go on about it i could have sworn we'd gone through at least 5 African American presidents rather than just now choosing the first multi-racial president, and if any cards were played it was the card downplaying the inherent racism in the conservative base. FYI its relatively easy to make somebody sound dumb, so actually you're the idiot, just because i said so. You're probably going to stay that way too because idiots can't realize they're idiots or they wouldn't be idiots.Idiot.

well let's hope Sarah does not run for 2012 she will ruin any chance she has for 2016...I like her ..but she has a lot to learn before America will choose her....She needs to go undercover as far as running for president goes and she needs to be more seasoned....Barack Obama...Oh he will do very well and Americans will be all the better for his leadership...Sure he picked some has beens....but his vision will renew them and America to what she once was the (Greatest )......undisputable.
