What are your hopes and/or fears for the coming administration?

This is intended to be very open-ended. I hope there can be lots of comments, because I am interested in all kinds of input. This is-for the most part- an intelligent forum for us to bounce socio-political ideas off one another, and debate over our countlessly differing beliefs. I've grown very tired of all this partisan squabbling, and I'd hoped it would have dissipated after the election. It clearly has not, so let us hear what you have to say about the future. What are your hopes and/or fears? What are your ideas, theories, or priorities? Go any direction you see fit, and maybe we can find some common ground or acknowledge the vitality of our differences. I'm mostly concerned about the Obama administration, but we can consider things even further down the line if that's what concerns you most. The economy, environment, Darfur, Gaza Strip, Russia, lobbyists, partisanship, energy, Social Security, gay marriage, Venezuela, China, North Korea, Somalia (pirates, honestly?) Education, Health Care, Investment and Consumer Regulation, campaign financing, pseudo-fascism which Obama is accused of, GOP regressivity, Democratic totalitarianism, the list is infinite. Let's tackle some issues

First of all, the definition of partisanship has been revised by the leftmedia and democrats as meaning any opinion differing from the democrat party platform. This much is clear, Obama is no different than previous liberal politicians in this regard. Further, the fact that Obama has recruited for his closest advisers several Clinton era democrat operatives is proof that the Obama administration will perpetrate on this nation business-as-usual Pelosi/Reid platform of rabid leftist policy making. My hope is that Obama is ineffective as a whole and we only suffer four years of oppression by the liberals in Washington. Obama tax policies and protectionist policies will drive us deep into depression. Obama foreign policy will destroy any and all fledgling democracies currently bolstered by the current administration.

Partisanship has not been altered in definition, you're just upset that Obama so sweepingly won over the nation. If anything, your response is THE definition of the type of bitter partisanship we need to curb and heal. You completely ignore the GOP's role in the state of the nation we find ourselves in today, but just b/c Bush and Cheney were the worst tandem in modern politics, does not mean that this is all ANYONE's fault. Nor should we simply blame EITHER of the two parties, whose differences lie in fundamental beliefs on how our democracy should operate, not a GOOD vs EVIL platform. If you hope Obama is ineffective at best, you don't have the nation's best interests in mind, and I regret that you are the one to respond, b/c now I have to look down at comments to find something CONSTRUCTIVE. What i hope for is an end to traditional left/right wing ideating. It is clear that in the new century, old tricks aren't going to solve the problem. Our solutions for the last two economic crises were what landed us in this one. I hope for a new environmentally focused New(er) Deal that can create jobs & finally put us above par with EU standards for carbon pollution and consumerism.

I am sorry that you are not up to the challenge. Here - start over and find someone else, brown shirt.
