The economy is behaving like it never has before. The Dow Jones has lost again today, and then when GM, Chrysler and Ford go to ask for money, they go to it on private jets. This is just the last straw. The rich have had all the money for too long, they have oppressed us for too long, and all this happens as we say goodbye to Bush. You are correct Moore in saying good riddens to capitalism on CNN's Larry King Live. Here is to a better future under Obama.
CorruptAbramoff said 11/20, 08:56 PM
People always panic when bad things happen. Strangely, they also don't THINK when bad things happen. Capitalism is crippled, yes, by human greed, but it will always come back. After all, it is fueled by the most powerful force in the world - human greed.
Obamarocks said 11/23, 02:42 PM
I think it is coming to an end. Everyone I speak to and read says it is and things are happeing that haven't happened like this before. The Dow lossing half of its value. A new president similar to FDR straight after Bush. Talk about a 180 degree turn in politics. If it isn't, why is it it not? Where is the evidence? Millions of people without a job, healthcare, income, welfare, food across the world and in the US. Developing nations like UAE showing nmore signs of boom than us as in the hotel opeing in Dubai the other day. Yes, things are changing and not for the better. Our leaders ike Bush and Clinton and Bush and Reagan have sold us out. They have sold our jobs abroad and they are making us poor, and we must take action than do what Corrupt says and sit on our bums and hope everything will be okay. How will we not be poor in the future? We have all this debt $10 trillion and two wars bankrupting us to death that how can we stay properous? Capitalism has done all this because it is a short term system and people won't stand for this any longer.
CorruptAbramoff said 11/24, 04:05 PM
Everyone I speak to and read says it is? I don't say it is, and every one I speak to doesn't have that sort of perspective. Tell me, why do YOU think so? And how is having the DOW plunge and then a president like FDR come up and start fixing a lot of things the end of capitalism? Makes no sense whatsoever. Did capitalism collapse when FDR came into power? Hardly. So YOU have to prove that capitalism IS coming to an end. I'm just saying, "Whoah, calm down and think." And of course developing nations are progressing at a faster rate - they're called developing nations after all, and whatever they have, even if it's a little, must be much greater than what they have now. And a hotel opening is hardly a sign of economic prosperity. And how have they sold jobs abroad? Last time I heard their policies, it was against globalization and sending jobs abroad. And when did I assert that we should just sit still? The rest is mere assertions.
Okay, I thought this was going to be a civilized discussion. Instead, I sit down at the computer for 3 minutes and manage to disprove all of your rants, which are not warranted at all and are BS. Your move.
i think that we will always be a capitalist economy, however, with the economy is such bad shape, we'll have more government intervention. but it will eventually decrease over time. the Great Depression, had huge government intervention, but after a while the government pulled out of the economy again.

Report Offensive CommentWe've lost hundreds of thousands of lives in wars and other military conflicts fighting the spread of communism, or at least the threat of losing capitalism as our dominant socio-economic foundation. Obamarocks is merely stuck on class warfare; (s)he probably wears a Che Guevara shirt to Militia Etheridge concerts and thinks the word "corporation" is synonymous with "Satan." Typically, instead of making more an effort to increase capital---which (s)he would be free to donate entirely to "the poor"---(s)he sits and waits for someone else (in this case, an Obama-led executive branch of government) to force those who already work harder to pick up the slack even more. After all, they deserve it . . .somehow. Pretty sad.

Report Offensive CommentCapitalism has weathered tougher storms than this. It will literally take another dark age to destroy capitalism, and really what your getting at, the credit based economy. The only way this can happen any time soon, will be if we are too slow in updating our energy infastructure, or if there is a catastrophic WW3 (probably both go hand in hand). A severe downturn like this only forces a more government regulated form of capitalism. Do you really think the U.S. government will take over the majority of the economy over night? I can really only forsee socialization of the health industry any time in the near future.

Report Offensive CommentCaplitalism is surely not dead, a little bruised and battered but not dead. Obama will do nothing to kill it off either. I do not find Michael Moore a credible source on these things although some of his documentaries have been quite good. When he keeps to looking at the current human condition he is good, but past that I pay little attention.

Report Offensive CommentCapitalism is HURT when idiots in Congress subsidize failing industries with handouts that dont do anything to help in the LONG RUN. It is OK for a business to fail! in fact that is a GREAT THING!!!! It means they will be replaced by a BETTER company! Look what happened after the dot.com bubble burst! It came back STRONGER! The free market weeds out lazy companies.

Report Offensive CommentThe rich have so much money because they figured out how to make it better than the rest of us. You can be rich too - the key is to devote much of your day to figuring out how to make more money rather than going to your 9-5 job then plopping in front of the tube. Poor people are poor because they either ran out of smarts, luck or energy.

Report Offensive CommentThere are a lot of rich idiots nate, many of which have inherited their wealth. And you are so right, many are poor due to bad luck. Cindy McCain is a prime example. She is no Einstein but sits on 100 million dollars. What did she do to earn it? Nada. Nothing. Zip. I am self made and proud of it. I am not a billionaire but definitely have enough to never work again if I don't want to, although I choose to work because I enjoy it. But I know many who have worked their butts off for thei whole lives, and never made it out of the so called working class. You speak as if we are all given an even playing field at birth and that it is drive and smarts that are the sole determinant of success. You're wrong. Lots more goes into that mix.

Report Offensive CommentYou are living in a Capitalistic society "HusseinRocks," a society that because of its competitive drive has produced the very technologies that allow you to type your evil socialist propaganda, and you want to see it fall? All I have to say is you are extremely retarded my friend. I think you need to get back on the short yellow bus and go back to your special school, along with all of your liberal friends, so that you can continue to learn all of your happy thoughts, and finger paint. The rest of us will do just fine in the free world, where hard work and determination will continue to drive a U.S. superpower.

Report Offensive CommentI hate to have to half agree with 2012 here, but we are a capitalist country for better or for worse. The amount of regulation of the market goes up and down, and I am more for a bit of regulation, 2012 is for less, but in essence neither of us wants to see capitalism disappear. Michael moore made two good films, Roger and Me and Bowling fo Columbine. After than he got a little too full of himself. I do believe however 2012 that we will not be the sole superpower anymore. It will be a multipower system, with China weighing in, a united Europe weighing in and maybe even India if the get their act together and Brazil. But we have to recognize that our day as the only game in town is coming to an end.

Report Offensive CommentI can see that everyone is a bit unsettled by China now 2012, especially since we owe them an unimaginable amount of money. And you have to wonder how a communist stae got that powerful if a free market was all it took. I am not in the least advocating communism. It is a horrible system. But a free market alone is not going to get our butts out of this mess. I am no economist but I am hoping that the ones Obama relies upon can help. I know you would like to have others making these decisions, but we will all have to wait and see how this plays out. In the meantime we also have to make sure our country keeps going.

There are points of agreement and disagreement. Thanks for the chat 2012.
