I have been very disturbed over the cabinet selections of Barack Obama. I like many on the far left supported Obama thinking that radical change was coming, because frankly that is the package he presented himself to be. CHANGE MORE CHANGE AND MORE CHANGE. Today he has announced that the head of the New York Federal Reserve System will be the treasury secretary. This man is heavily involved in the dealings of the World Bank. Janet Napolitano is not capable of being Homeland Security Chief. Frankly his choice of career politicians and former Clintonistas is really a bad move. We do not need another Clinton era because much of what was done in the nineties is having terrible ramifications now. Clinton let US automakers have free reign in which they retooled their entire auto plants to produce gas guzzlers while the Japanese government mandated automakers there to produce a more diversified lineup. Also the free trade orgy of the nineties largely backed by Clinton has led to unsustainable growth and exploitation.
It seems that the 2 headed monster of the 2 party system has again planted itself into the executive branch. Radical change is needed, not Clinton change.

I think you are wrong Rev, and this does represent real change. The choices that Obama had made so far have been quite shrewd. He has chosen some of the best and brightest of Clinton era people and mixed them with his own, with a couple fo former rivals thrown in. The idea of change has to come with the ability to move your platform forward. You go to complete so far to the left that you fall off the edge, you get nothing passed. Obama was and remains a very pragmatic guy. Here are some huge differences. He has Daschle in charge of HHS to push through healthcare reform instead of his wife. Daschle knows everyone in government, have string positive views on health and will be amazing. He has yet to put for his environment guy but you will see that it will be someone with some sense who will insist on emmissions controls. The financial system is complex and some continuity is needed, but with someone with a more sensible bent. Geitner is just that. Napolitano is a brilliant choice for homeland security too. The Clinton era will not be repeated, but at least we had a balanced budget then.

he IMF and The World Bank have hardly been instruments of progress. World Bank and IMF policies have strangled the entire continent of Africa. Many African nations spend more money paying the interest on bad loans to these institutions than they spend on education of healthcare. World Bank and IMF policies also destroy worker rights in any nation who chooses to become a member. Look up Free Trade Zones to see the true horror of these policies. Geitner was on the IMF policy development board which automatically brings a great level of suspicion to the man. Also, the Hilary Clinton pick may have been good politically but how can he choose someone to be secretary of state that completely disagreed with him on the campaign trail on everything from sitting down with Iran to pulling out of Iraq? I was planning on seeing fresh, new people in his cabinet who have not been tainted by Washington lobbyists and Wall Street tycoons. Time will tell if Obama is just going to do the typical, retarded Democrat dance. What I mean is Clinton came in and made modest reforms, while siding with the far right on economic policies. We can no longer drive down the center. America must stand up.

If you bring in all Washington virgins then you are sunk before you start. You will get absolutely nothing through the system. You need people who are savy to the process. I understand that you want to right all wrongs immediately, but this is the real world Rev. Clinton was a brilliant choice on a number of counts. I am and always have been a huge fan of Hillary's. She will be an asset and will work closely with Obama. She will work within his policies. She is no idiot and she wants his presidency to succeed. As for Geitner, Obama needs someone to be able to step in and handle the financial mess day one. He can do that. I probably preferred Summers to Geitner but Summers will take over the Fed so thats fine. Obama will tackle everything he can with the state of the economy as it is. Je will do mare than anyone else could right now. Give the guy a chance Rev, He hasn't even been inaugurated yet. Sheesh.

There have been absolutely no progressive cabinet choices. I think even my right wing friends would rather see some new progressive minds than the same Clinton robots that Obama is picking right now. Tom Daschle is a terrible choice for any posistion. Spineless Hilary as Secretary of State? Hilary and Daschle rolled over like France when this war was brought to them. They did nothing to stop the this war before it started. Also Hilary was completely for NAFTA before she was against it. NAFTA and other free trade arrangements have destroyed America's manufacturing industries. We need FDR style reforms not Clinton style reforms. The middle of the road will take us off a cliff. The conservatives got 8 years of extreme right policies. Our turn. Clinton people can't handle the task. He is making a big mistake.
Proud 2 b liberal said 11/26, 07:56 PM
Just you wait and see Rev, Obama is a heck of a lot smarter than you give him credit for. Having read your posts however, he will never be far left enough for you. That being said, he has the people who he trusts with "his" vision and I have faith in that. I am also a very major Hillary fan. Yes she voted for the war given faulty info but we all have made some mistakes in our lifetime and have learned from them. Obama is not a Clinton democrat on so many levels, mostly because he is carefully and skillfully working to build a team which can actually get a decent amount done. Do not jump all over him yet.
I think our friend Rev wants change that will totally restructure the government, which will just not happen. The Clintons were a bit too centrist for him. Change for me is getting something done. Change is being able to pass some sort of reasonable healthcare plan and get us out of Iraq and close Gitmo and restore our reputation around the world. Change is to bring back some sort of fairness into the tax code. That would be amazing change which will not happen if you do not have some excellent politicians in the government.

Report Offensive CommentChange? ROFLMAO! Yeah...real change, huh? Typical Democrat BS...say ANYTHING to get elected, then 'change' back into the same ole/same ole. No new tax hikes...geez...who said that during the campaign...that it was a bad idea? Bring in the Clintons, (can you hear the banjos playing in the background?), put your mother-in-law in the WH, (where is she going to sleep...in the Lincoln Room?), nominate 4/5 prior Clinton people into the cabinet, because you're either too wet-behind-the-ears, or are basically a Dem pawn. His AG nominee has experience pardoning incredibly distasteful criminals...wonder if BO is gearing up to pardon Raines, Johnson, Gorelick, Dodd, Meeks, Waters, Shumer, Frank et al., once they get convicted of corruption and fraud. Change...you can believe in! HaHaHaHaHa!

Report Offensive Commentdfhunt1; The results of the Bush doctrine is quite apparent. Thats why America overwhelmingly voted the first Black President into office. Call it what you want but the bottom line is, your party had its chance to give Americans a taste of how Conservatism if applied with leadership and fairness could lead us into their promise land, but what did they do, they decided with a heavy hand to **** America of all its dreams by being corrupt, dangerous, reckless and lawbreaking thugs...So yes, there will be change, not the change your use to...
polyfoamworkshop | 11/24/08
Report Offensive Commentbut the change we want.....as does most of America. Speaking of pardons, who do you guess Bush will pardon? Skooter Libby? Ted Stevens? Who else?
Proud 2 b liberal | 11/24/08
Report Offensive Commentpoly-please take note of the Bush Doctrine...because BO will do little to change it...if he does...there will be blood on his hands, and he knows it. But he campaigned to get your vote, by stating what you wanted to HEAR. Liberal kool-aid? Yep. P2B...it appears the Stevens case used a hit-man to prosecute him, and Scooter Libby's case was a travesty in justice. You'd like to think otherwise, and compare it to Marc Rich, and the potential pardons of Dodd, Raines, Frank, Meeks, Johnson, Shumer and gorelick. Pretty pathetic...but consistent with your warped sense of "equity justice". Another Jonestown liberal in action, huh? No higher taxes on the wealthy, basically a Clinton administartion reunion...yeah...that's REAL change! LMAO!
drhunt1 | 11/24/08
Report Offensive Commentpoly-further...if you think that Bush was a "conservative" then you are wrong. The fact that he never vetoed any Bill that came across his desk, is proof of that...just as was the bailout Bill a la Paulson. Bush was a domestic finance flop for us true conservatives. The GOP had a majority in the House and Senate, (although barely a majority), and partisan politics ruled. The GOP got spanked in 2006, which should have been a warning shot across our bow. I took notice, but GOP Congresspeople did not. The American voter wants/needs a scapegoat...and Bush became that...BO and Biden kept alluding to his low favorability numbers, all the while ignoring the fact that even though his numbers WERE low...they were three times higher than the numbers for Congress...of which BO and Biden were part of. Watch and learn...the Dems will continue to point out to Americans that the Housing crisis was caused because of DEregulation legislation, totally ignoring the fact that it was the GOP that wanted GREATER oversight/regulation against the GSE's, and the Dems kept blocking it. The truth will finally become exposed...hopefully...and then we'll see what BO does about it. Will he play partisan favoritism, and let the b@st@rds off the hook, or will he do the right thing? Time will tell...and it depends on how mainstream media handles the information that "we", the people, put forth and how much public anger is displayed. No wonder why the Dems are pushing for the fairness doctrine...they are being exposed as we write.

the president is the president of all citizens. period. The two chambers are made up of those members who get elected. period. A third or even fourht party just never made it. So the president has the - often - frustrating job of finding finding majorities. I have confidence in Rahmbo to get this job done - and Lieberman might even be helpful, and, laugh it off, perhaps even with MacCain's help.
