Humans are a violent and irrational group as a whole. They have not even gone past tribal warring to achieve interplanetary travel. The rich still control the masses and talent is almost never developed to its potential. The societies of the earth are in constant struggle. The violent are held back by the caring. The wise killed by the violent. On and on. It seems almost by luck that humanity survives its next cataclysm.
Maybe that could be the subject of a face off in itself......probably not.

Report Offensive Commenti don't see how you could really debate that base, seeing as no one seems to have any particular knowledge and thus insight to offer. then again, i think both of these debaters have their work cut out for them. i'll check back in later though.

Report Offensive CommentYeah, I know it would be far fetched, it was just a thought i had while reading this.

Report Offensive CommentI am not too sure if aliens exist or not. But I will say this: If they do and they're smart enough to get here then they're smart enough to avoid a planet where we can blow the planet up at the push of a button. We have a self-destruct button for our planet.

Report Offensive CommentYour argument actually goes against your point. Those are all the reasons aliens should keep an eye on us.

Report Offensive CommentAny race that has solved the myriad problems of interstellar travel would have no reason to fear whatever technology we currently possess, and no reason to 'keep an eye' on us. They also would have no need of our resources, and couldn't really possess any gaps in their scientific knowledge that would require experimentation on Earth. The only possible interest would be historical / anthropological.

Report Offensive CommentThank you apathetic, I just believe that we war amongst ourselves continuously every day (in many forms) that its hard to believe that anything gets accomplished......much less that an extraterrestrial life form would take us seriously.

While I do believe there is other intelligent life beyond Earth, maybe we haven't been visited because we're the most advanced life form technologically, we always make the assumption that it is the aliens that come here with better technology, who's to say we won't be the aliens visiting other worlds with the advanced technology? Just a thought I had.
