Both parties lie to get in power, and once in power their goal is to reamin. In America money = power, so you have very powerful people running for (supposed) control of the people. Without looking at the figures I can assure you that the average american does not earn enough to have an investment account, the average american is probably in debt that he will never pay off and thus probably sees no benefit to retirement. Meanwhile, you have people who have hundreds of thousands or millions(some billions) dollars at their disposal and have only left the country club for p.r. stunts. The media loves celebrities because it sells ads, just like the lobbyists like the two party system because it sells americans into debt slavery.
The rate of teen pregnancy is on a rise, and we have childless candidates running for office, how can someone who does not have children nor care for them (sorry rich families but you are focused on mammon worship more than family ties) its sad that most of those cases are paid to keep the public from knowing the truth. The average american has no money because he owes so much. No candidate dares address that issue otherwise he would be a hypocrite.

The Federal Reserve Board, looking at their statistics, many of the stories of American debt are mostly false. The 'average americans' in debt isnt the result of wild, reckless living. Most of them were people who always paid their bills and tried to do the right thing. The increase of housing, gas, But, many 'average american' have families that become ill. In which, medical bills become very expensive. Children become ill and more medical expenses are piled up. That is why this year election on health care is so important.
But is there a significant difference? Yes, there is
Democrats:
Support welfare programs (aiding the poor, food stamps, etc.)
Believe in strong gun control (restrictions on buying guns)
oppose the death penalty
believe in the women's right to choose an abortion
Seperation of church and state (religion should not be in politics)
Support equality/gay civil unions and gay rights
Republicans:
Do not support welfare programs- believe people should work for their money
Do not believe in gun control- believe owning a gun is a person's right
In favor of the death penalty
Believes that abortion is wrong

As to the question of debt "According to CardWeb.com, Americans owe $2 trillion in non-mortgage debt; this equals about $19,000 per household. The average American credit card debt is about $785 billion or approximately $7,500 per household." http://www.americancredit.org/Average-American-Credit-Card-Debt.html
Anyone outside of the wall street journal has a hard time addressing this issue.
As for the differences that is just banal rhetoric used for culling the 85% of americans who have a high school diploma. With the education system being cut what does that 85% mean? That bein sad, all your "differences" you can type in your favorite search engine and begin to see that, the Bush adminstration is favoring gun control. One of the key rights we have been given as americans. Also look at who is adopted the Patriot Act and HR 1955, a mix of both parties each vying for a more powerful government.
Those differences are pie in the sky promises, especially if congress and the house refuse to vote on those issues. Which if you look at the voting records they don't even stick with their party, they listen to lobbyists. Religion of state: money. There is no separation.

theres a difference. and will always will be. republicans are as holy as anyone. democrats seem to be more of a moderate figure. im not saying republicans can't but they are portray as extremist. the question state is there a difference between the two parties? or are they priest of mammon? im not familiar with the term mammon but to say a predential candidate is greedy is off the ordinary. they have charities that they run. if there is not a difference, then dont vote! dont be part of politics. people vote because theres always a difference between two parties. IF there wasnt, lets have EVERYONE VOTE for JOHN MCCAIN and not worry about who the democratic candidate will be!!! in my acknowledgment, it seems to me that you believe that the people has no voice on who the next president is. and to say that my answer is easy, is out of the blue! the 'easiest' answer can influence many. wen i watch a debate or a campaign run in a city the easiest question is the hardest.

"im not familiar with the term mammon" Then you began an argument you knew nothing about. That term Mammon is a crucial as it not only a reference from the book of Matthew, but that word is a personification of riches. There are countless studies on symbolism and their power and how effective they are (we all salute a u.s. flag). My question was a question of loyalty, are party members more interested in serving the people or their party? You can't be both, because the people aren't one party. So now in choosing a party you are choosing to represent a group of Americans, not Americans in general. How do you support the party? By giving them your time (time = money). What do supporters want? Money. When any of the crappy choice for candidates gets in power what happens? Parties feud even more, and special interest groups get their way, look at who benefited most from this war.
If you were a presidential candidate and your aides told you that rhetoric wins votes/support/money, not the truth. Would you go after the votes/s/m or would you support the truth which is what the American people need? Man can only drive one car at a time. You have to choose.

for better correction, i knew what mammon was. its in the new testaments. i just never heard it used in a way like that. oh and your question was really was "Is there really a difference between the two parties? Or are they just priests of mammon?" And because I voted and supported a democratic candidate I'm giving the candidate time? Which is true, i give time to look at the newspaper on the different candidates issues. I'm watching their commercial. I pick up their calls. However, because (I) gave that person time, i'm giving him/her money!?! And it's all because i'm supporting the candidates?!?! hmm... i didnt know democratic candidates can do that! I didnt know they can reach into my wallet and pull out a $1,000. Jeez, if i was a presidential candidate i would just pull money out of peoples wallet, cause i guess i can do that. Oh wait, hold up, I'M A PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATE NOW. INTERESTING! I need support to get votes. so can i chooose more than two answers? I mean i can tell the truth while getting support and if they give me money (then thank you)and i'm guessing those supports are going to vote for me! And what if Man wanted to walk? What happens then? haha. politics is funny
Also for the people who are voting for the "easy" answer, this is not about the differences they tell the media, this is about what actually occurs during each presidential election. There is a reason why none of these issues are never solved, its because neither side actually wants closer on any of their "key" issues. The question was is there a difference between both parties, of course there isn't if they are both money hungry and greedy. Also for clarification: Mammon is a term for filthy lucre or just the worship of money. That term is not just abstract as it the motive for many people in power. If you think America is a Capitalist society then you have to admit democracy is dead, you cant have business and politicians in control. Look to see who really is running the country, I'll give you a hint, it isn't Bush.

Report Offensive CommentI wish I could go back to blind worship of each political candidate and refuse to think for myself and realize that we are in this mess (the credit crisis, food shortage, faulty wartime economics based on inflation, instead the political history of this country is a joke if you apply logic and understanding. Nobody went to jail for the Lincoln Savings and Loans scandal, Reaganomics put the incredibly wealthy in control of the poor. Health care is almost laughable as people get turned away from insurance and have to pay and arm and a leg(no pun intended) for treatment. Even poly sci majors can't realize the difference in candidates when they are running for office and when they actually attain that seat. Their campaign meant nothing and now they have consent to ignore the problems of the poor and enact secret wars around the world while making a mockery of the justice system (thank you Clinton and Bush 9/11 wouldn't have been the same without the greed party). Go ahead and live in your fantasy land where you believe everything you see on T.V. Don't think and don't look for what isn't being said. Just demonize the other party and fill yourself with rage if you lose.

Also read up on what the federal reserve actually is. http://www.truthusa.org/articles/fed/fedtruth2004.htm "The real meanace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses... This little coterie...run our government for their own selfish ends. It operates under cover of a self-created screen...seizes...our executive officers...legislative bodies...schools... courts...newspapers and every agency created for the public protection.??? N.Y. Mayor, John Hylan http://www.fdrs.org/federal_reserve_system.html also: http://educate-yourself.org/cn/fedreservebankexplained19dec05.shtml. I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. " - Thomas Jefferson On passing the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 President Woodrow Wilson (Dem.) "I have unwittingly ruined my country".
