Michael Vick should not be allowed to return to Football, without some major fines and or suspensions in place; if at all.

Dog fighting? Can you believe that?

That is hardly an argument.

What Vick did was abhorrent, but he has already been punished much worse than anything the NFL could do. He received a 23-month sentence in jail; no fine or suspension by the NFL could come close to matching this. But on the subject of fines, he has already lost "$142 million, including $71 million in Falcons salary, $50 million in endorsement income and nearly $20 million in previously paid bonuses." Not to mention that Vick has lost his career, his income, his respect, and undoubtedly many friends.

While killing dogs is clearly horrid, upwards of 21% of the people in the NFL have committed serious crimes (not including juvenile records), and they are still allowed to play. Not allowing Vick to play would be hypocritical. Linebacker Cornelius Bennett, who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman was allowed to return to the league; surely you aren't going to argue that animal abuse is as wretched as sexual assault?

Vick has undergone animal sensitivity training and there are talks that he may do a PSA against animal cruelty. Dog fighting is very common among people in the inner-city. Judging Vick as you have done is very ethnocentric.

10 months remaining for the next argument...

WHile I have no idea what is going on between CL and Bob I find it funny. Wut i came to say is that I agree with CL that there are people who have done worse crimes than dog fighting and got back into the NFL. The question here though, is should that be the case. I firmly disagree. I don't want a person like that or who commits any crimes to be a romodel for children. And let's face it, athletes have a bigger pull on kids now then most parents do. I can see CL's point that no one before him was punished but now is the time to make an example of these vial criminals. Show the children that you can't **** people or kill animals and get away with it. All before Vick should have not been allowed back into the NFL and all after him should not be allowed in.

Thats fine shrek, but shouldn't you be voting off of the quality of one's debate and not on your personal opinion? -------- That is, after all, the point of this site.

CL you are right. I voted on my opinion. I doubt many don't do that. However, I find your arguement better fought than Eaglevision's. Therefore, until he/she responds with a better arguement I will change my vote to you.

Libertarian... I was suprised to learn that you are 21. What college do you go to? By the way, why has everybody voted already. The other guy hasnt even made his second agument yet. He's only said 6 words so far.

I havent voted yet but I am leaning in the Libertarian's direction. They already made vick give back several million. How much more money should he be fined?

He made his first argument, and he has ignored the debate for 2 days. You cannot ask two questions as your first argument and expect to receive any votes. Eagle is a fine debater, so I'm relatively surprised.

Hey yngster; attend The Ohio State University. What about you?

Yah, you are right, Vick has and will more than paid for his crimes. Give the guy a break.

Haha. Please excuse my grammatical error.

Actually I agree with yngster, CL you are great in debates and well versed in politics. I would ask: Are you a Political Science major? I am the same age and I was just wondering.

Report Offensive Comment

Well, not the exact same. I am 23, which isn't that far off. I started College later due to military recruitment.

I go to Chico State in CA. That school is the biggest party school in CA so I am having a hard time concentrating. I am thinking about transfering. I was a psychology major but I am also going to change majors. I want to major in Business now.

What vick did was just stupid. I mean how much money could he have made dog fighting? 100 grand a year at the most. For him thats nothing. why would he take such a risk for such little reward?

Report Offensive Comment

Hey shrek, thank you for the compliments! Yes, I am a Political Science (pre-law) major. I actually enjoy history and philosophy much more than politics, but ultimately, neither of those majors will get me to where I want to go. What service were you in? Where do you go to school?
