Can Geoff Garin Save Clinton?

Campaign officials expect Garin to work on bringing consistency to a message that has been too focused on the daily give-and-take between their candidate and Barack Obama.

First off, I am not entirely sure which position you are taking. But I will say:

No, Geoff Garin cannot and will not save Senator Clinton's campaign in any way, shape or form.

It is far too late for Senator Clinton to change her campaign image with any meaningful result. It has been more than a year since Hillary Clinton announced her intention to run for President; the candidates have competed in 44 contests; the Clinton campaign has spent over $100 million dollars; Senator Barack Obama leads by over 140 delegates, and Senator Clinton would need over 65% of the remaining vote in each state if she were to catch up. This is a reality that Geoff Garin cannot and will not change.

At this point, Geoff Garin nor any other campaign strategist can "save" Clinton in any other way than Mark Penn was already attempting to do. Senator Clinton's only hope is to attack as aggressively as she has been under Mark Penn, firing away at Senator Obama, hoping to claim that he is "unelectable" and that she deserves the nomination.

Her only hope is to completely bury Senator Obama under her aggressive attacks, a reality that Geoff Garin will play no part in changing.

7 months remaining for the next argument...

As a follow up to this, if Obama is to secure the candidacy how do you think the Democratic party will react. Personally, I see a strong division among Obama and Clinton supporters and am wondering how Democrats will react if their favored candidate losses. On the other hand, the Republicans have overwhelmingly supported McCain. It will be interesting to see how that plays out during the election.

Democrats will come together after the primary season is over. Passions are running high at the moment, but they always run high during times like these -- think about Romney v. McCain and go back to the number of Romney supporters who said they would never vote for McCain in the general election. The fact is, voters are smart and they are passionate. When they strongly side with one particular candidate and they are forced to think about supporting another, it is tough. But once the race becomes less about shades within the Democratic party and more about Democrats v. Republicans, the choice will be clear, and so will the thinking.

Yes. I know this is highly unlikely, but do you see any possibility that the losing candidate for the Democratic party would run as an independent?

I don't really think so... they would have hell to pay if they did. :-)

Condi... lets finish the Ralph Nader debate. It has been a month since it began.

I do know that Democrats will unite. There are currently a lot of issues on the table for Democrats to think about as they make their decision on who to pick. The Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton issue is one example. For some it doesn't matter if Hillary is the best woMAN for the job, but would not like to cut the monotone. Richardson based his support for Obama partly on that theory. The other is the 1st Black-1st Woman issue. All these years, the Clintons have been viewed by both Blacks and Whites as the champions for Black struggles and now, because there's a Black candidate, everyone remembers that they are infact White. I think that Hillary has put on the table the best plan both on economy and health and her ideas on withdrawing in Iraq are more realistic that Obama 60day retreat. She has the most needed tenacity for the job and is tried and tested to stand against any Republican. Can Obama offer any more than eloquence, I am certain... he cant. I respect him though and would support him if he won. Pat Higgins

For the young people of America: How ignorant are you to NOT support the Clintons. President Clinton is not only loved in the United States. He and Senator Clinton are loved throughout the world. This is a job for the President of the United States. This is not "American Idol". Stop treating it like that. Vote issues and experience. President Clinton had our economy in tip top shape when he was in office in the 90's. Jobs were plentiful. Senator Clinton worked with him also. I am sure much more then she or President Clinton suggests. Senator Clinton was not just having tea when President Clinton was in office. Hillary is the ONLY candidate that will support Universal Health Care. She is loved throughout the World. She will fight for all of America. Obama has too many negatives: Character issues: Reverend Wright is a mentor of Obama's Anton Rezko, a Syrian from Chicago is a criminal involved with Obama Obama's other friend of 17 years has been discussed on Fox. His name is Willaim Ayers. Check it out. United Trinity Church has supported Louis Farrakhan, a Nation of Islam leader and supporter of Obama Last night, Obama admitted his father was a Muslim on the religious forum on CNN Obama has deceived the youth. He is acting like he's running for "American Idol" This is a job interview. Treat it like that.
