Unfortunately, its not about what Ron Paul has done, it is about what he has done. He is running a one-issue platform on tax issues, a daunting task. The only reason why Ned Lamont did not beat Joe Lieberman was because he was running on just a one issue platform, the War in Iraq. This makes Democratic candidates that are focusing on other issues as well as taxes a more attractive choice. Ron Paul is also against consumer protection, such as lawsuits against cigarette companies that kill millions of people each year, and is not in favor of the FDA. He is not in favor of regulating anything, which is part of the problem. He is a total Libertarian, which will not be beneficial for this country. Ron Paul is running a too single-minded and close-minded campaign to be a legitimate candidacy for the presidency.

If people want to smoke, go ahead. It's called F R E E D O M..... The government should do what now?.Sue the company's that make alcohol? Drunk driving kills a whole bunch of people also. Ron Paul is not running on just Tax issues, he has a broad range of ideas, Here is a short list:
The War in Iraq
Health Care
Abortion and Stem Cell Research
The War on Drugs
The War on Terror
Border Security and Immigration Reform
The Economy
Do some research, our country spends untold billions on aid to other country's while we sit and suffer. Here is a quote from Ron Paul regarding this approach "I believe our founding fathers had it right when they argued for peace and commerce between nations, and against entangling political and military alliances. In other words, noninterventionism. Noninterventionism is not isolationism. Nonintervention simply means America does not interfere militarily, financially, or covertly in the internal affairs of other nations. It does not mean we that we isolate ourselves; on the contrary, our founders advocate Freedom and Personal Libertyed open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations."

Yeah its called Freedom, which means do whatever you want without hurting other people. If you yell "Fire" in a crowded building, you'll still get arrested for disturbance of the peace. Alcohol is so embedded in our culture that it would be impossible to regulate it, as shown during prohibition. Smoking, meanwhile, has experienced many successful public bans which have reduced the probability of lung cancer through second-hand smoke. Alcohol is the only exception to the success of consumer protection.
Of course Ron Paul has other opinions other tax issues, but that is the main basis of his campaign. Ron Paul has views on other issues, but he does not express them nor does he advocate for them as the main part of his platform.
Aid is required to help fledgling democracies in other countries. The whole reason that countries go to communism and dictatorships is when aspiring rulers take advantage of the people's despair and poverty. Interventionism is the way to create a safe world, not just ignoring it. Meanwhile, the quality of living in America is not suffering, and we have a higher standard of living than any country we give aid to. Paul is seen as a demagogue by saying this
