Hilary Clinton will not drop out of the race until she cannot statistically win, even if it harms the Democratic Party in the 2008 election.

The facts are clear: the Democrats are hurting because they cannot focus and align behind a single candidate. The only people who can stop this are Obama and Clinton.

Hilary is behind in both the popular vote, as well as the delegate count. Realistically, her only hope to win the nomination is to convince a large number of super delegates that Obama is wholly unfit to run against McCain in '08. Keep in mind the stink the Democrats made in 2000, making it highly unlikely that the Democrats will nominate the non-popular vote winner.

While if this were not harming the Democratic Party - money spent aside - it wouldn't really matter if Hilary were unnecessarily dragging out the nomination process. However, using the Republicans as an example, giving the party base time before the election to get behind a candidate is one of the most valuable tools a party has.

A while back, McCain was not trusted by most Republicans, but every day more and more Republicans - as well as moderates - are choosing to support him.

If Hilary were to drop out and support Obama, the Democrats would have a much better chance in '08, but Hilary is selfish and will only do what will help Hilary.

If Hilary wants to tear apart the Democratic party, good for her!!! A lot can happen between now an the convention. What is there is an assassination or something of that nature. Another scandal could force B. Hussein Obama out of the race. You never know!

And if she tears apart the party in the process thats a bonus for us Republicans!!!

While tearing apart the Democratic Party may be good for Republicans, amusing, and fine with Hilary (any cost to win, eh?), my point was that she will not bow out of the race, even for the good of the party.

You cannot count on an assassination when picking a candidate, this is not Pakistan, this is America, a President has not been assassinated since JFK.

If it has gotten to the point where Hilary's camp validates her continued attempt for the nomination because of the remote possibility that Obama will be assassinated, they ought to face the facts, save both sides some money, and give up.

There has been assassination attempts - REGAN!!! - So you can never rule that out. Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, boy, Ted must feel left out.... maybe they think he isn't important enough to assassinate- jk! LOL!

I believe that she may run as an independent or maybe form her own party - THE CLINTON PARTY! - boy, that would be scary. It makes sense to Hilary to quit, but she won't. I think by July 1st she may leave the race but only if she plans to continue running. If NOT, SHE IS IN IT TO THE END!!!!

There will always be crazies trying to assassinate people, and granted, Reagan was pretty close to death. My point however, was that we as a nation cannot live in fear of a terrorist threat. The moment we allow ourselves to be held hostage by a few gun-toting nutjobs (not to say all gun owners are nut-jobs), we stop progressing as a nation, and start simply trying to prepare for the worst.

And back to my original statement, Hilary is going to stay in until she cannot win, even if it hurts the Democrats in November. I have made my reasoning very clear, and so far, it appears as though the only reason she should stay is the vague threat of Obama taking a bullet to the heart - which is not a valid reason for her continued running.

I'm not saying we should stop her, I for one find this amusing. Add to that we have no right/means/etc. to stop her.

I just think, if she TRULY wanted what was best for the Democrats, she would drop out. She, however, has done what's best for HILARY - understandable, but wholly unhelpful to her party.

I don't think she will ever drop out. I think it will be like the election of 1860, where two democrats ran and split the vote. Hilary will not back down. She is in it to win it and will stop at nothing, even if it means waiting for Obama to take a bullet. She will stop at nothing and hey, good for her!

Pablo is absolutely right. Hillary will not drop out until she can't win. If she has the money and enough people behind her to continue, I see no reason to stop her. The worst it can do is slightly damage Obama in November, but it has a much better chance to have next to no impact.

Um...so is your last argument basically "Pablo, you're right"?

Hillary must continue until the process is complete. This process was allocated the time it was because the Dems leadership was awake to this possibility of a neck and neck. Why do people always want short cuts and stopping a democratic process? So what do they want? That Hillary hand it over to Barrack? I doubt thats what he'd do if he was behind by just 138 delegates.

I agree Peace, but I think she must go searching for a man. Bill is bad for her and if anyone hasn't noticed, he is costing her campaign. I think Kerry could make a better man as 1st Gentlemen of the US. Pitty his taken.
