McCain is flawed

McCain seems to think the Iraq war is beneficial to Americans, and wishes to continue there for maybe even "100 years". Why? Our presence there has made Iraq worse, Al Qaeda is now not only present there since the war, but gaining strength. Thousands of American lives were lost and billions of dollars were wasted, yet he wants to continue? He says we are winning, and the Dems want to surrender. McCain should be titled "Captain Obvious", who would have thought that a superpower like us would be winning against a third world country like Iraq. McCain is missing the point, Dems don't want to "surrender". Obama knows that the war was, and still is wrong, and he will bring home troops.

That "100 year" comment was taken out of context. We have had troops in Germany for many years and the Democrats have no problem there. If there is a low casualty rate he would have no problem leaving troops stationed there. If the terrorists aren't busy fighting our well-trained army in Iraq then they will attack us. Any New Yorker knows how frightening 9/11 was. We need to take steps to protect our nation. As Dick Cheney said "You cannot win a war if you tell the enemy you are going to quit." Let me explain this with something you would understand. If Hilary Clinton announced she would quit in 2 weeks, could she get the nomination? No! Let's face it, John McCain knows how to fight. Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton have no military experience. John McCain is not flawed, if anyone is it is the Democrats. They want to raise my income taxes to around 50 percent! THAT IS FLAWED!

We have troops everywhere, that does not mean we are fighting everywhere. We are fighting in Iraq, we went there and got their dictator, which isn't a bad thing, however, we didn't gain anything. You say the terrorists would attack us if it weren't for the troops. If you look when Al Qaeda in Iraq was formed, it was 2004, after the war started, they were formed to fight against the troops, before there were no terrorist organization that was a threat. I was there when 9/11 happened it was very frightening, but we cannot use that as an excuse to attack a country that had no part in it. Going into Afghanistan was a great idea, however Iraq did us no good. Obama in fact does not want to raise taxes to around 50 percent, and he also wants to lower taxes for the poor. Unlike Bush, who gave tax cuts to the rich, McCain now supporting that. THAT IS FLAWED. Leaving troops in a country where we gain nothing but more death and blood, THAT IS FLAWED. Being conservative and supporting the policies that are leading to an economic recession and thousands of home foreclosures, THAT IS FLAWED. McCain is flawed. We need change, if we want to get out of the economic situation we are in now.

His 100 year comment meant means having them stationed in Iraq. He meant having them not fight. We are spreading democracy and fighting terrorism. And as for taxes. The rich are still paying more even with tax cuts. As for home foreclosures, well people need to take responsability. If i bought a $40 million dollar house that i clearly couldn't afford, would you want your tax dollars used to bail me out? Well that is what is happening. In many cases people speculated home values would go up. Now that values have started dropping they ask for government help. I have a saying- DON'T BUY ANYTHING YOU CAN'T AFFORD!!!! (This excludes homes, but you should be able to handle the payments on them. The people foreclosed made a bad decision, they took a gamble. I wouldn't want my tax dollars to go to someone who gambled away all of their money. I see it as the same thing. Using people who made smart choices tax dollars to help a few thousand idiots, NOW THAT IS FLAWED!!!

Why do you make it sound like there are "a few thousand idiots" who "took a gamble"? They bought a home they wished to live in, and I doubt if they have trouble, they'd buy an immense house. If this were true then there'd be a steady rate of foreclosures, not this burst of foreclosures suddenly we're experiencing, this isn't due to the good people of America. And you say dems want to raise taxes 50%? They dont even want to raise taxes at all for people who make under $250,000, which is the majority of this country.

Well, $250,000 is not something i consider "wealthy"! Many of those people have the same struggles with gas prices! Sure they may make $250,000 dollars, but where they live, the average home prince could be 1 million!
I live in an area like that! Homes are expensive, property taxes are in the thousands! For some even $10,000! Hey, did you ever consider that many of these people work in the financial industry. The industry is suffering, so why not give them a tax break? They may loose their jobs, people are Bear Stearns made this kind of money! Don't penalize people for knowing how to make money and smart choices! McCain is not flawed!

your my hero gopdiva! lol First of all how do you know Al Qaeda is gaining strength "the young dem"? do you know one of them personally? im guessing not...maybe the war in iraq wasnt necessary but maybe it was we'll never really know for a fact... all i know is, is that it took a corrupt person out of power and has NOT made Iraqi life worse. As far as the Democrats saying they want to pull out of Iraq its just a meaningless promise. People believe that when democrats come into office everyone in Iraq will just be shipped over... thats not the case at all we cannot just pull out at once we can pull out slowly YES over time however its not a quick fix scenario. I personally have never heard Sen. McCain say anything about being there for a 100 years... in which he would have no control over anyway. Seeing that a term is only 4 years... As gopdiva has said we have people all over the world I know people that have been to Iraq and have been in Russia and all over the world during there Army career. Its just going to take time either way on each side and I def dont want to pay 50% more income tax!!!

The American Tax system is "progressive" meaning that even after the "Bush tax cuts" wealthy Americans pay a FAR higher rate than middle income, and many lower income level Americans don't pay any taxes at all. Your argument is weak, but by taking shots at tax cuts, you have further hurt your point.

"who would've thought that a superpower like us would be winning against a third world country like Iraq", ummm, Obama says were losing, so does Clinton, so does MoveOn.Org. now who do i believe, we lost Vietnam, but we're winning in Iraq, why not actually win and now just be winning when we leave and thereby lose.
