We need to repeal the child-labor laws.

Get those kids back into the factories and mines.

The corporations will need their labor after we wall off the border.

the mines don't need children anymore. they have machines to do those jobs, I would know I have studied the subject.

As yes, I recall the headlines..."16 machines trapped in mine accident and feared dead". They also have machines to pick our crops and process our foods. Its a wonder anyone has jobs these days. But we should not allow illegal immigrants to steal the jobs our kids can do.

Most parants do not want their children working deep down in a dangerous tunnel for many hours a day. The parants want their children to get a quality education. now, on the "headline" machines don't do the work on their own, they simpley make the work of the miners less labor intenive, thus requiring less workers. That is why people still are undergound who die. Furthermore that number, 16, is a lot less than in the old days of 50 men, 33 men, and 130 men.

Also note that in America most boys who worked for the coal company worked in coal breakers, large buildings where coal is cleaned and purified. The machines can do this now, not illegal immigrants.

Just a note, for someone who appears to be a republican, or just conservative, i don't see strong moral family values. ( no Ronald Reagan liek your photo emblem)

May Day, 2006: 1 million people plus marched through the streets to observe a national "Day without Immigrants". Major demonstrations were reported in Florida, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, & other places. The majority of the demonstrators were originally from south of the boarder.

Hundreds of companies, factories & construction sites were shut down because their employees were taking part in the demonstrations. Nannies & gardeners told their wealthy employers that they would not show up for work, & farmers' markets came to a standstill.

An estimated 7.2 million illegal immigrants are working in the U.S. This is approximately 4.9% of the entire U.S. working population. They are here performing necessary work & making valuable contributions to society.

Some say illegal immigrants could pay a fine, pay back taxes, learn English, remain employed, be crime-free, & get in line for naturalization. Others simply want them gone.

Who else could we pay considerably less than the average American worker once the immigrants are gone? Our children are uniquely qualified to be the next exploited work force. Repeal the child-labor laws!

I have no more to say other than it is immoral, unsafe, and frankly just irresponsible. We can not send our kids back to hard manual labor.

P.S. A quality education is essential to the advancement of our democracy and if that quality is infringed upon it will lead to a less intelegent and more seseptable society in the future of the United States of America.

While this debate seems to have taken the humorous route, some of the restrictions are rather bothersome at times.

Hadrian, did you vote for yourself? Ok, I will give my vote. Governmental restrictions are always bothersome. Hard labor is good for the soul anyway, isn't it?

I'm voting for Hadrian simply because his argument is hilarious... and I'm 23 so I'm no longer in the "child mine-worker job pool".

What century are we in? Why should we sacrifice a child's education for the sake of replacing the illegal immigrants? What this creats is a whole generation of unskilled workers. This is really unhelpful if we want to move forward with the times and stay a world superpower.

In all honesty Americas education system is in the gutter anyways. We need to get them out of this B.S. enviorment and into the working force. Hey it might even make america as great as it used to be. We where the greatest country in the world when we had no education and lots of labor. I vote for making america comunistic. It worked for us before why not now.

If you are voting to send young kids who need the education more than jobs into mines, you are crazy

Call me crazy, but america was better when we where dumb. Now on that note. I wouldn't be so against our education system if it wasn't horrible. Poor education, Educators get poor pay, and anyone deciding to go to college gets screwed over with all teh debt.

Hay Tyler Cole, the majority of the children who worked in the mines were the children of immigrants who needed the money. The immigrants had dreamed that their kids could have an education but could not afford it. If you study the subject you would all of this. I grew up in a the Pennsylvania Anthracite Coal Mining Region long after the industry died but I do know the masses of history behind it. Tyler Cole you need to think a little. Also not a lot of our public schools are of good quality. Sadly many big city school are not, but most schools are far better than working in the large coal breakers and gangways.

Hay is for horses. That joke aside, I have nothing against earning an education. What i'm trying to say is that with our education system the way it is atm. That being in the working force is a way better choice atm. I believe education is very important. But if anyone that wants it has to go bankrupt for it then I'd rather be in the mines. Education leads to betterment of man kind. When people start thinking for themselves this will be a way better world. But atm the government thinks for 98% of the population. I feel like im in that book. 1984, where the government decides everything for me. So until the government can agree that health and education should be provided free, I think people are better off working. And it doesn't necisarilly have to be mines. Just my two cents.
