According to current theological thinking, the Flintstones era runs from the beginning of time through the Stone, Bronze, and Iron ages, on up to about 1800. The Jetsons era begins with the dawn of the Industrial Revolution and culminates in a utopian future in which machines do everything.
The past 150 years has seen big strides in technology and science. Who would have ever imagined that men would walk on the moon or that open heart surgery could be performed with robotic assistance?
But we have problems still in this modern age. But going back to the caves is not the answer. Neither is dragging the Stone Age along with us as we move into the future. We need a new religion for a new age.
As we sit in traffic jams, many of us, all across the country, have wished we could simply rise off the ground and zoom up and out of that tangled mess. We think, "George Jetson had a flying car. Where is mine"?
The most significant theological question facing us in this modern era could be, "Who do we have to pray to in order to get us some flying cars?"
Sadly, the God of Betty, Barney, Fred and Wilma is not answering.

Report Offensive CommentHadrian, with some of the debates you initiate, I would have never thought you to be a Reagan supporter. You had me fooled!

Report Offensive CommentQuiet. I'm in disguise. People started to recognize the other Avatar and were reflexively voting against me. One right-wind troll took on a debate and got 6 votes for himself before even presenting an argument! Ray-Gun's gonna serve to mystify and confus-ilate these folks I'm betting.
