I have watched Obama emulate the great Martin Luther King Jr over the past two years and... honestly doing a bad job at it. I am still to see a man/woman during our time to realise the dream of the great Mr King and/or Malcolm X. The difference between them is that they were origional, great thinkers and champions of Unity.
Now someone can argue that Blacks and Whites are behind Obama and that is unity. For Mr. King and Malcolm X, it was for the people not for themselves, it was to craft a different future for an inspired generation.
Dr. King got young white girls like Hillary to see wrong from right and bravely turn their back from the narrow mindedness of the past and be activists for the better tomorrow that they envisioned.
Thats what make Hillary more qualified to be a leader today, because she saw the need to change when change was not as fashionable. When it was risky and when it meant life of death. Now about Obama, in short, He is just earning cheap political points using Mr King's honorable good name. Americans are just obsessed with the celebrity stature Obama brings.
I call on Obama and his campaign to refrein from using the name of Dr King.
IamFry said 04/17, 05:44 PM
How is Barack Obama trying to eulate Dr. King? You're not clear on that.
You seem not to know much about Malcolm X.
Are you seriously suggesting that Hillary Clinton has more right to use King's name than Barack Obama?! Do I need to point out how absurd that is?
You're asking Obama's campaign to "refrain from using the name of Dr. King." Pop quiz- how many times has Obama used King's name during his campaign? How many times has Hillary?
The answer to follow!

Yes I know enough about Malcolm X, I just didn't expand on him in this debate because that is not my point. My point is that Obama is often viewed as the son who is on track to realising his vision. Please note that I am not focussing on Malcolm's faith in this regard but his political vision.
Obama claims that his campaign shares Dr King's dream and his campign is designed such that it realises it. Mybe its fashionable to share Dr King's views. But using it in vain is not good for the fight Dr. King started.
I am not saying Hillary has any right to use it, but doesn't claim to have any sort of mandate from the Dr. Kings vision to do what she does. Obama did in Wyoming.
I know that Hillary and other white students marched with the black community when Dr. King was murdered. I also acknowledge that Barack was only 6 when it happened, but I guess we will never know what he would have done.

About Malcolm X - it's not that you didn't exhibit enough knowledge about him, just that the few things you said about him were wrong.
"I am not saying Hillary has any right to use it, but doesn't claim to have any sort of mandate from the Dr. Kings vision to do what she does. Obama did in Wyoming."
Obama said we ALL have a mandate from Dr. King's vision, not just himself. Even if he had, so what? It doesn't imply that he thinks he's the new M.L.K.
I can't figure out your last paragraph. What's your point?
CRISP said 04/24, 03:27 AM
Sorry I think your last argument is unclear, what are you saying?
Let me try and make this point clearer. I think it is convenient to drop Dr. King's name in your campaign to lure African-American voters and all those who share the same view. I think that is what Obama has done repeatedly. I dont think his politics are the same with D.r King's.
If you look at the issues that Dr. King about his dream about America and its people, and in detail look at what Obama is saying. World's apart.
Hillary doesn't claim to be implementing his dream, but at least she is inpired by it.

Let this debate finally end!
I'll quote you:
"Let me try and make this point clearer. I think it is convenient to drop Dr. King's name in your campaign to lure African-American voters and all those who share the same view. I think that is what Obama has done repeatedly. I dont think his politics are the same with D.r King's."
I agree that candidates use Dr. King's name to try to get African American votes. Where you lose me is in suggesting that Obama does it more than Hillary. You've got it backwards; Hillary uses King's name more than Obama.
Never mind the fact that you claim Obama's trying to emulate King, yet you haven't even attempted to explain how. The rest of your argument doesn't make a lick of sense.
btw, are you using aliases for votes?! That's a pretty serious offense around these parts!
Any chance of a final argument on http://www.elephant-donkey.com/elephantdonkey/show/6921 peace?

Report Offensive CommentMalcolm X was indeed a champion for unity, is suppose the reason for abstaining from this one Pit Bull is due to your limited knowledge about this legend.

Report Offensive CommentNOW thell me Dude, how is your latest submission a debate or any contribution at all. I suppose any forum has characters like you who do not add value but just vent anger. I support Hillary and am passionate about the issues she is passionate about that, so what is wrong about that. I would like you to stick around after the nominations are wrapped up, you will hang your head in shame when Sen Clinton becomes the next President. Stick around.

Report Offensive CommentCrying foul Pit? but I must say in the spirit of fairness, I did concede in my last submission that McA gave me a solution about changing your origional vote, therefore automatically I threw the debate. But thanks for the votes anyway.
