Before you vote on this proposal please read my argument to the end. secondly I could have just wrote a letter to the website, but I think your support on this issue will help this suggestion.
1. I normally vote based on the argument of the debaters. mostly, debaters enter the 2nd and 3rd argument and the subject matter normally changes or develops into a stronger or weaker argment.I should be able to use 3 votes, one per new arguments from both sides, incase the other party has introduced a fresh angle or enhanced issue.
2.I also think that having more opportunities to vote will encourage more visitors to the site and the community or hits on this forum will grow.
3.Sometimes I(this is entirely my fault)cast my vote for a wrong argument by mistake and would like to restore the balance by voting correctly, but I cant because I have just one vote.
4. Three votes will obviously break ties, and comeon...we are not electing someone to a public office, so 3 votes can work.
Lastly: 5. we can grant the status of 3 votes to a certain category, say most regular or those who've won more than one debate. It will create a sense of belonging (more like the SUPERDELEGATE)

Here's why you're wrong:
Simply because a famous Illinois Democratic slogan was ''Vote early, vote often,'' the logic was---and still is---severely flawed when trying to keep a true democratic process (''One [person], one vote'').
With allowing just one person (or in this case, one IP address) one vote, it provides a good-faith effort against political crimes like ''stuffing the ballot boxes.'' I don't know if you're old enough to vote in real elections, P&L, but that is how truly democratic ones (even in representative republics) are supposed to be conducted.
Your argument implies that you've tried, to much chagrin and disappointment, to vote for your own arguments more than once. (Based on your debates thus far, I cannot blame you for trying, as that would often have been your best chance for winning.)
However, that would cheapen this web site by making it a matter of who could get more cronies to vote for him or her, rather than carefully choosing those with whom one agrees on issues.
Finally, you're not supposed to vote after every counterargument. That is why we have campaigns before elections: learn the stances on issues BEFORE you cast your important vote.
Grow up.

I dont know if you have followed people's FURTHER arguments or you look at just their opening statements and thats it. I have learnt that mostly opening arguments are rather vague and sometimes carry a lot of points, then I vote. But when I visit the debate again, i find that debaters would have made a better effort to advance their arguments and I may want to change my vote or stick to my previous vote. So if the site offers the debaters a chance to exchange points three times, it clearly wants them to convince us further and further. So because we dont only vote at the third round but from the start of the debate, it should allow us to advance our voting along with the progression of the debate.
My suggestion is that if 3 arguments are allowed, then 3 votes must be allowed. I am familier with One person one vote notion, since I have voted on the REAL primary and general elections a couple of times, and that is besides the point.
Let me advance my argument by proposing that a person should only have one vote on his/her FACE OFF. BUT on others the notion of 3 votes should apply. I hope that puts you at ease about me voting for myself a million times.

''I have learnt that mostly opening arguments are rather vague and sometimes carry a lot of points, then I vote.''
Despite your statement seeming contradictory, you should wait until the debate ends, and THEN cast your vote. Then you avoid your current dilemma.
''But when I visit the debate again, i find that debaters would have made a better effort to advance their arguments and I may want to change my vote or stick to my previous vote.''
Wait until after the final arguments, THEN vote. Problem solved.
''So if the site offers the debaters a chance to exchange points three times, it clearly wants them to convince us further and further.''
So wait until after the final exchanges, THEN vote. Problem solved.
''So because we dont only vote at the third round but from the start of the debate, it should allow us to advance our voting along with the progression of the debate.''
You don't HAVE to vote from the start of the debate; you merely have the luxury or option to do so. Therefore, develop some discipline and wait until after the third round---THEN vote.
Problem still solved.
(Blame yourself, not the web site, for the frustration.)

I suppose the person who gave me and probably others an advice we can use here is MorgMcA without turning this into a personal attack. I now know I can switch my vote as the debate progresses and that solves everthing. I give this debate to you MorgMcA. Thanks

I didn't attack you personally, but rather the tone and content of your argument, which seemed a bit immature and irresponsible. I haven't even mentioned the fact that if your voting predicament has happened more than once, you need to start learning from your mistakes.
I am unaware of any way to change one's own vote after it's cast; but even if I did know how, I'd prefer the ''wait and see'' method I outlined for you in my previous rebuttal.
You said knowing how to change your vote now ''solves everything.''
Nevertheless, knowing how to vote correctly the first time preempts most problems needing to be solved.
Have a nice day.
If people make bad choices, we can't stop them. HOWEVER I think it would be a good idea to require one or two argument postings to allow someone to vote. Otherwise someone could easily run a nice little voting scam around here...

Report Offensive CommentThanx for the tip Pitt bull, in all these debates, I have not voted for myself coz I didn't know its possible. I will try it now.

Report Offensive CommentWhy vote on this? P&L will not finish the debate. He doesn't like to finish debates if he's far behind in votes... See my first debate ever, against P&L.

Report Offensive CommentI think that's a challenge P&L. are you going to finish what you start, at least forfeit.
