Those who thing there is no God, they are truly mistaken, and there is an inordinate amount of proof there is. Anyone may accept this challenge to debate it with me. I am prepared.
theandrewwest said 04/19, 06:50 PM
I'm going to make a few things clear before we begin here:
1. I did not accept this debate to prove there isn't a God. I apologize if that is the challenge you wanted. Instead, I'm going to counter that there is not "an inordinate amount of proof" in favor of the existence of God. I also want to point out there is never an "inordinate" amount of proof.
2. Neither of us is likely to win based on on the merits of our arguments. It's really a matter of the demographics of this site.
3. Neither the Bible nor evidence that assumes the accuracy of the Bible is valid evidence unless you are prepared to prove that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.
4. My beliefs (and your beliefs, for that matter) are irrelevant to the debate. Do not bring them up.
5. I intend to keep this entirely civil. I expect you to do the same.
Now then, I await your reply patiently and look forward to a mature debate.

What is it we are debating? Inordinate amount of proof? I am not debating about how much proof there is, I will debate about God, and to prove my point I will use some of the amounts of proof, but not the way you have stated this debate.
For once, I agree with Donkey dude. Andrew, you are free game out there and no french kissing at the end. Please, let us decide what is relevant or not. We are the voters. Enjoy.

Report Offensive CommentThere is no way in hell theandrewwest can lose this argument. If he does, I will just abandon this site.
DonkeyDude | 04/19/08
Report Offensive CommentDD, I am with you on this. While we are in the spiritual, please, comment on my Fitna debate. I need to lose this one to put my soul to rest (I feel way too much anger there).
Donkey DooZoo | 04/19/08
Report Offensive Comment...I just hope this doesn't devolve into another facebook style "there am teh no godzz" type thing.
Pablo the Great | 04/19/08
Report Offensive CommentI am prepared to forfeit if it turns into the mess such debates usually do. Donkey DooZoo, when I say our personal beliefs are irrelevant to the debate, I mean just that. What he or I believe has no relation to the subject. You're right that the voters are free to decide themselves, but I'm also free to disregard any attempts to bring my beliefs into the debate. I know it's funny that I would accept a religious debate on the premise that it can remain civil and intelligent, but I've witnessed such miracles before. It's just a matter of being respectful. Being respectful and level-headed -- one reason a debate between Pat Robertson and Richard Dawkins would never really be a debate. Maybe fun to watch, though.
theandrewwest | 04/19/08
Report Offensive CommentIt also amuses me that he has two votes before either side has actually presented an argument.
theandrewwest | 04/19/08
Report Offensive CommentDooZoo - I'll be eagerly watching the FITNA debate. I watched that last night (courtesy of your link). I almost accepted your challenge, just on the basis of not condemning an entire religion for the acts/words of some members (who are regarded as perverters of the faith). And as for the Koran, I can point out similar crap in the Bible. But I didn't take it because I actually agree with your sentiment. All organized religion is crap, and it has no place in politics. Any violence-embracing theocracy should be toppled, IMO.
DonkeyDude | 04/19/08
Report Offensive CommentAndrew - you are way too smart and articulate to be accepting challenges like this one. Leave this garbage for alexon96, PEACE&LOVE or theyoungdem.
DonkeyDude | 04/19/08
Report Offensive Commentthis is ridiculous, it is all about faith. God intended for us to never be able to prove, using the scientific method, that he exists. He set it up that way, and for a very good reason too.
MorgMcA | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentI'd love to know what that good reason is, Morg. But perhaps this is the wrong forum for that..
DonkeyDude | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentWeareallequal, I was looking at your debate proposals (or I should say holly statements) and I have one question for you: are you Jesus? Because, if you are, i will vote for you. If not, what the f**k are you waiting to start the debate?
Donkey DooZoo | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentNow Dude we must be threatened because if Andrew looses you will leave, and you dont include DonkeyDude among those whom you attack as not being "smart". Let me guess what the site owners will say if you leave... Good riddence. Andrew at the moment I'm with you. This debate could easily be designed for rival religions and exclude everyone who feels stronger on other issues. I understand you as saying that our faith and religion should not be dragged into the debate but the strength of arguments based on facts should be considered. I think you are right to say that you stand the risk of having voting against you because of the perception created by accepting a challenge on the existance of God. I can only conclude that you are very clever in the way and manner you preambled your debate and clarified the issues that can easily be misrepresented. But lets see how it progresses. Donkey Dude you need to get over yourself and go to school.
CRISP | 04/20/08
Report Offensive Commenti would like to see scientific evidence that God exists. Andrew makes some good points about how the debate should be conducted. i believe in God. but the way Weareallequal stated the title, only made his job harder for himself. He has to prove the GOD EXISTS. this should be interesting and hard for Weareallequal.
Mark | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentDDZ - LMAO. P&L - Again, every time you open your mouth, you make your parents less proud. Just stop talking. It's "loses," not "looses." And I AM DonkeyDude, so why would I attack myself? The site owners (Time) will not say anything, as this is a ghost ship. And it's "riddance," not "riddence." And "existence," not "existance." And "let's," not "lets." And stop telling people to "go to school." I've gone to more schools, of a better caliber, than you have, and it shows in my writing. Nothing you ever say is insightful. Nothing, ever. Andrew West, feel free to disagree here, but I don't imagine you read P&L's comment to be anything other than pseudo-observant rambling.
DonkeyDude | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentDude, after that un-intelligent input you consider yourself as being smart?. I feel sorry for anyone who has to keep your company and tollerate that wounded ego of yours. I have concluded...the only thing you are better at is crossing the Ts and dotting the Is, nothing of substance you can offer this site or anyone. Just so you know, this is my last engagement with you, you're not worth writing to or about, otherwise we'll end up unable to tell the difference between me and that empty dark cave under you hair. I still think you need to go to school. At school they normally help people with MEGALOMENIA (exagerated view of your own importance).
CRISP | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentSigh. P&L, I welcome your abandonment of our exchanges. But I will definitely miss the amusement I get from listening to your stupid ramblings. I obviously have something of substance to say, especially relative to you, as anyone can see from examining our debates and records. When I look at your debates, two interesting things jump out: people constantly tell you how inane your comments are, and you lose every debate. Well, that is except for the one you won, where the guy forfeited on accident, and the (many) ones you don't finish because you are behind in so many votes. Oh, and btw, I'm curious to know what school(s) you went to. Which one of them helps people with megalom[a]nia?
DonkeyDude | 04/20/08
Report Offensive CommentDDZ, I just thought your last comment was hilarious. I understand your confusion over the exchange between P&L and me, as he/she never makes sense. He/she is just a Hillary parrot who likes to launch conclusory attacks on intelligence without providing any concrete support whatsoever.

Andrew, are you serious? You know damn well that by entering into this debate you are subjecting yourself to personal attacks, conclusory arguments, and probably a copious amount of grammatical errors. Anyone who would posit this argument necessarily does not understand the concepts of proof or logic.
