One benefit would be identifying who rolls with a sock-puppet entourage.

Are you that thin skinned that you need to know which people, who you will likely never meet, disliked your argument?
How would you use that information? The only logical way would be in retribution since no other manner makes sense.
IamFry said 04/30, 08:25 PM
I'm not saying we need to know anything. I'm saying that, if E-D were to disclose voting, people will be less likely to invent new identities and rig voting when they know that it will become apparent who's doing it.
For example, you'll notice seven or eight members whose only activity on the site seems to be voting for PEACE & LOVE's every position, and such transparency MIGHT even discourage him/her from persisting.
I'm not holding my breath for any of the above to happen, though.
KefkaZ, the reason this topic was up for a long time was because people were cheating on this site, so public disclosure would allow us to figure out exactly who was behind it.

Report Offensive CommentKefkaZ it isn't so we know who disliked our argument, but who is cheating on this site.
Tyler Cole | 04/30/08
Report Offensive CommentSeriously, I have lost some close debates that really make me wonder if my opponent was cheating or not.
yngster | 05/01/08
Report Offensive Commentwhats the point in cheating anyway. There is nothing at stake.
yngster | 05/01/08
Report Offensive CommentNot exactly, but there's a strong possibility that P&L's cheating. You're right, though. There isn't much of a point in cheating; there's hardly much of a point in even calling people out for cheating. If someone cares to take the time to create multiple profiles and continuously log in-and-out to vote, then they're the big champ in my mind.
IamFry | 05/02/08
Report Offensive Commentsince we are talking about cheating, how does anyone know that someone is making several accounts to vote and make IamFry or KefKaz win this debate? how do we know the winner is the "true" winner. It's kinda ironic that the very subject of this debate is the thing that could give the winner the extra edge to win this debate.
Mark | 05/03/08
Report Offensive CommentWell, there ARE no true winners. And, Mark, you're right; you have no idea whether or not KefKaz and I may cheat. You'd have a better idea who MIGHT be cheating if votes were disclosed, though.
IamFry | 05/04/08
Report Offensive Commentfurther to the point we also have no idea if someone will cheat on either iam's or kefkaz's behalf. giving one the win, while not actually having the winner himself cheat.
MorgMcA | 05/04/08
Report Offensive CommentDonkeyDude proposes that we don't vote before the 6 arguments have been heard. I support him and would like everyone to join us. This will make sure that people complete their debates and not avoid finishing their debates when they are trailing in votes.

Genius, I took this just so I could comment. That would (hopefully) help control the vote fraud here.
