OBAMA Is The Most Scrutinised Contender In This Election, All The More Reasons We Should Vote For Him

Its been a scotching period for Obama. He has been unfairly and sometimes unrealistically queried and tested over and over. Unlike Hillary and others who dropped out, He has faced questions about his religion (whether or not he is Muslim), his pastor (Wright), his advisors, His small town comments, his fundraising capacity (blamed for outspending Hillary 3-1, though there's nothing wrong with that). I just hope that this is not happening because he is African-American. I know and respect the fact that when you are running for the highest office in the land you have to pass these kinda tests, but lets level the playing ground.

I think if someone perfoms as impressive as he does, despite all these by both the media and his opponents' team, he deserves our trust and votes. Obama 08

Firstly, I should state that I am not accepting this debate as a Hillary fan, in fact I'm a Republican, but I just don't like McCain. I, however, think that those in support of Obama are over rating the guy. To think that anyone has been spared the scrutiny in this election is misleading. Yes Obama against Clinton has been pressed hard. But have you followed the media on McCain lately. His taxes, his position in Iraq (lies about him saying he will keep us there for 100 years), his age and suitability.

McCain is not another Bush and his Presidency will not be the continuation of Bush's policy at all. This is another issue of scrutiny the guy had to endure. I don't think Obama is the most scrutinised therefore I don't think we owe him our votes for that. He has a strong case on this Change thing, but I can safely say they are all being treated the same. Digging for dirt has not started yet.

My point is that exactly. Obama has withstood the pressure from all the forces that have made it their duty to scrutinise him. Background check has been done and he has passed the test. I don't suggest we vote for him out of sympathy, but because now we know him, thanks to the scrutiny. I also am not claiming that McCain has not been scrutinised, but, as the topic suggests, Obama has been the MOST scrutinised.

So we agree, if there is no need to complain about scrutiny, why should the Democrats and Americans in general feel obliged to voting for him. Lets agree to wait for the end of both the Democrats and General elections.

As far as I'm concerned, its like the same nonsense Hillary pulled before Texas and Ohio. She complained that the media was hard on her and easy on other candidates, and then what? the media started going easy on her, which I believe earned her the two states.

I think McCain has handled the controversies very well, that does not suggest that he hasn't had his own share of the unfair test through the magnifying glass of both the media and his detractors.

My argument is that, if Obama has impressed upon Americans that he is the best candidate, even after such tests, we should be satisfied that he is our guy. I said earlier "I think if someone performs as impressive as he does, despite all these by both the media and his opponents' team, he deserves our trust and votes"

I am not opposed to waiting for the Convention.

I'm not certain if you have convincingly argued that Obama remains the most scrutinised, however, I for one will not vote for him (not until he has reached the end of the campaigning). Not because I have a better candidate to vote for but because he still needs to prove himself. Being targeted by the media does not make him the suitable, but I sympathise with anyone who is targeted unfairly. Nice one Hope

I am an Obama supporter. That said, I agree with DeadPres. There clearly is a great deal of scrutiny on Obama. But I think anyone running for the highest office in the land should be able to endure such scrutiny. I, for one, think he has held up just fine, and he has maintained my support through and through. But you know what? I find that my support is stronger now that I've examined it. And that's a good thing. The reason, incidentally, that he has been put through the wringer is because he is running against a power-hungry egomaniac who is trying to destroy him personally. If HRC were a Republican, McCain would be on the receiving end right now. It's not because he's black - aside from the bullshit Wright scrutiny. I also don't think people should vote for him just because he's been scrutinized. There's enough reason to vote for him without relying on sympathy.

But I have to admit that I have a strong anti Hillary prejudice because she is a woman. I don't mind a black guy being president, but a woman would really bother me. It is because I was raised poorly.

I don't think Obama is scrutinised because he is black. I think he is scrutinised because he is a weaker candidate.

I agree with DonkeyDude (the origional). I think Obama has more persuasive arguments on almost every policy and does not need our sympathy to get to the White House. I also agree with DeadPres, he should prove to be tough enough to stand whatever form of scrutiny. That's how the game is played. Pass the test and get the White House. Good debate guys.

Anyone (media etc) doing the scrutiny is actually doing Americans a big favor.

yeah to alot of extent any press is good press, so i won't be voting based on who get's their name in the papers more.

I think that Obama is scrutinized because he is too young, too new to politics. Noone knows what he is like or what he stands for. The other candidates have been around the block and we know, at least most of the time, what to expect from them.
